Mechanics
Magic Pressure is a measurable form of magical force used to assess a wizard’s power, reinforce spellcasting, exert intimidation, and form direct defensive pressure. A Liquefaction Wizard’s enhanced telekinesis strengthens all of their spells by an additional ten percent, while uncontrolled clashes between Official Wizards’ Magic Pressures can cause soul damage to nearby apprentices. 316 446
It is tracked separately from mana; Locke’s recorded milestones repeatedly list both values independently. 242 275 389
Magic Pressure is important but not treated as the sole measure of a wizard’s strength; combat systems, spell models, magic artifacts, control, and the nature of one’s Great Magic can determine how effectively it is used. 612 621 1031
Compression and Direct Suppression
A wizard can compress Magic Pressure to increase its force and penetration. Locke’s Compression Method condenses his pressure sufficiently to blow through Wizard Spendis’s protective Magic Pressure and slam him into a wall, despite Spendis possessing more than 6,000 Magic Pressure. 446
- Dense Magic Pressure can overwhelm defensive pressure before physical attacks or spells are used. 446
- Releasing high-level Magic Pressure in populated areas can harm weaker beings even without a direct attack. 446
- Magic Pressure can be projected as an oppressive presence; Wizard Kent’s 28,000 Magic Pressure manifests like a lunging tyrannosaurus. 1075
Abyssal Energy
Abyssal Energy can be added to normal Magic Pressure, but its ratio must be managed to avoid instability. Locke treats a 0.3 Abyssal-to-normal-Magic-Pressure ratio as a safety line. 446
- Locke’s Abyssal Energy is represented as a separate celestial body within his Sea of Consciousness. 294
- The energy can sharply increase combat pressure, as when Locke raises his combined output to 7,150 against Spendis. 446
- Absorbing Abyssal Energy from the Tyrant Eyeball Demon raises Locke to 9,600 Magic Pressure, though he notes the increased ratio must remain controllable. 596
- Abyssal Energy is violent by nature and enhances the destructive effect of compressed Magic Pressure. 446
Bloodlines and Transformations
Bloodlines can temporarily or conditionally raise Magic Pressure beyond a wizard’s ordinary output. 474 730
- Locke uses Berserk and his Divine Dragon and Three-Eyed Tiger-Eyed Cat bloodlines to rise from 8,530 to over 9,000 Magic Pressure. 474
- The Second-Ring Three-Eyed Tiger-Eyed Cat bloodline possesses 10,000 Magic Pressure and improves Locke’s pupil techniques. 730
- The Ferocious Beast Panel and Natural Guardian transformation allow Locke to gather the form and Magic Pressure of worlds he visits. 730 1104
- The Magic Potion Reverse-Refining Method lets Locke assume a new identity, such as the Three-Eyed Tiger-Eyed Cat, without altering his true body’s advancement path. 1104
Rank Associations
| Rank or condition | Magic Pressure relationship | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First-Class Wizard Apprentice | 600 observed | A Mage Venerable-level native is identified as a First-Class Wizard Apprentice with 600 Magic Pressure. 398 |
| Liquefaction Wizard | Telekinesis enhancement | Liquefaction-stage telekinesis improves perception and grants spells an additional ten percent power. 316 |
| Crystallization Wizard | Ritual Magic | After three transformations of telekinesis, Crystallization Wizards can use Ritual Magic to alter bodies, enhance magic, and borrow external power. 316 |
| First-Ring Crystallization limit | 9,999 | Locke reaches 9,999 as the stated limit of this stage. 601 |
| Second Ring | Great Magic | Great Magic acts as a second soul, allowing a wizard’s total Magic Pressure to exceed 9,999. 485 |
| Moon Ring | World-scale danger | Moon-Ring Wizards bear the Moon Ear-Ornament, a mark indicating Magic Pressure on the scale of a world. 1132 |
| Star Ring | 21,500 observed | Locke is a Star-Ring Wizard at 21,500 Magic Pressure. 1039 |
Total Magic Pressure
Magic Pressure has both quality and total volume. A wizard may reach a quality limit while using external systems, bloodlines, artifacts, or Great Magic to raise their total usable volume beyond that limit. 485 596
- Locke can reach 9,999 without exceeding his soul limit by combining two Overlord Sea Golden Sand, the Ferocious Beast Panel, and Abyssal Energy; a Bronze Magic Artifact increases his soul’s carrying capacity so the excess does not leak away. 596
- The Tyrant Eyeball Demon has a Magic Pressure quality of 9,500, but its aggregate body grants it vastly greater total Magic Pressure than a single creature. 596
- Total Magic Pressure determines how many high-consumption spells or magic artifacts can be operated simultaneously. Antoine’s ability to control numerous artifacts is attributed primarily to his unusually large total Magic Pressure. 612 621
- A Magic-less Domain can force a direct contest of total Magic Pressure, rapidly draining the weaker side’s reserves. 596
Great Magic
Great Magic transforms a wizard from an individual source of power into a sustained phenomenon within a world. It functions as a second soul and establishes an energy cycle that becomes a magic source. 485 701
- Great Magic increases total Magic Pressure beyond First-Ring limits by superimposing the Main Body and the Great Magic’s power. 485
- Once Locke manifests Evolution Moon, all of his magic receives amplification at the level of its basic attributes. 704
- Great Magic cannot be limited to one individual; its energy cycle necessarily includes multiple entities or systems. 701
- A Great Magic’s power is partly separate from its Main Body, creating both greater capacity and the risk that one’s power may act against oneself. 485
- A Great Magic with its own “currency,” or internal Power System, gains lower energy dissipation, doubled instantaneous Magic Pressure amplification, and improved energy compatibility through re-forging. 715
Golden Triangle
| Indicator | Function |
|---|---|
| Instantaneous Magic Pressure output rate | Determines how effectively total stored Magic Pressure can be converted into immediate combat power. 709 |
| Energy dissipation rate | Measures energy lost through conversion and transmission; it is the foremost Golden Triangle indicator. 709 |
| Energy compatibility | Determines how well a Great Magic’s energy accords with a world’s principles; poor compatibility increases dissipation and lowers conversion efficiency. 709 |
Other evaluated properties include total capacity, stability, sustainability, ecological effects, and the precision of energy transmission. 709
Sources of Increase
| Source | Effect on Magic Pressure |
|---|---|
| Advanced Meditation Methods | Let wizards visualize Force Planes, gather Force Plane energy alongside the Wizarding World’s Magic Tide, and continue increasing mana and Magic Pressure. 104 597 |
| Potions and World Wonders | Can raise mana through non-meditative means, though such gains may not be permanent. 597 |
| Soul Magic Artifacts | Can rapidly increase Magic Pressure; the Thousand-Fold Magic Furnace raises Locke by 200 and doubles his soul-growth rate. 584 594 |
| Golden Bull Horn | Gradually replenishes and raises Magic Pressure until the wearer reaches their current physical limit. 1091 |
| Resources | Tourmaline King Peaches and Clear Sky Wizard Stones raise Locke to 18,500 Magic Pressure. 864 |
| Bloodlines and transformations | Can provide temporary increases or permit a separate identity to absorb a world’s form and Magic Pressure. 474 1104 |
| Great Magic | Creates an externalized energy cycle that raises total Magic Pressure beyond individual limits. 485 701 |
Interactions with Magic
Magic Pressure Radiation
The Tyrant Sea Golden Sand generates an abnormal Magic Pressure radiation belt that creates a localized Overlord Domain. 584
- It suppresses non-Golden Magic by roughly five percent. 584
- It strengthens Golden Magic by roughly five percent. 584
- The combined effect gives Golden Magic an effective ten-percent advantage over other magic within the domain. 584
Detection and Imitation
Magic Pressure reactions can be detected and used to identify the presence and rank of wizards. 446
- Wizard Gregory detects two Official Wizard-level Magic Pressure reactions in an apprentice district. 446
- Affectation Mask can imitate another being’s soul aura and Magic Pressure fluctuations by reproducing the microscopic structure of their magic power. 447
- Magic Pressure can be hidden or become imperceptible to weaker observers after a major advancement. 322
Instability and Backlash
Magic Pressure can become dangerous when its circulation or supporting system fails. 728 1129
- Locke’s unstable Magic Pressure causes his Spell Models to deform and makes the Evolution Moon flicker between light and dark. 728
- A collapsing Great Magic can cause Magic Pressure to spill outward chaotically. 1129
- The White Frost Witch suffers backlash when using unstable Magic Pressure to suppress a weaker wizard. 1129
