Background / History
Bevan is Baron Claire's son. His mother was possessed by Shadow Monsters, and Bevan witnessed thousands of Shadow Monsters erupt from her body. The experience left him with a lasting fear of Shadow Biology, despite his unusual affinity for shadow energy. 230
Claire leaves Bevan at Peran Castle when relocating the manor's people, hoping Arro will teach him to become a Wizard. Arro permits Bevan to remain but initially refuses to teach Wizard knowledge through the dangerous Ancient Method. 226 When Arro finally meets him, Bevan is reading quietly in the master bedroom and formally addresses him as “Teacher Arro.” 230
Arro later brings Bevan into the effort to clear Shadow Biology from Peran Castle, intending to desensitize him and develop him into a potential “Shadow Hunter” capable of protecting the servants. 230
Personality
Bevan is respectful, diligent, and eager to learn. He consistently seeks Arro's guidance, records his Meditation experiences in detail, and remains patient with difficult work such as tending experimental mice even when they injure him. 397 503
He is also insecure about his progress. Bevan resents the attention Arro gives Holly and worries that he is falling behind her; he later becomes anxious when Dorothea's talent develops rapidly. 329 503 610 Despite this, he can reflect on complex matters of trust, fairness, and strategy, earning Arro's praise for his thinking. 575
Abilities & Skills
Shadow Control
Bevan can sense Shadow Biology, absorb Shadow Element Energy, and manifest small shadows through Void Magic Power. 230 397
- Creates a shadow dot within an illuminated area without physically blocking the light. 397
- His ability appears connected to Meditation and direct contact with the Sea of Consciousness. 397
- Its full limits and origin remain uncertain; Arro considers whether Bevan's high Magic Affinity may stem from inherited Demonic Creature bloodline or foreign-magic corrosion. 524
Meditation and Record-Keeping
Bevan keeps written records of his Meditation behavior and psychological experiences, allowing Arro to evaluate his development rather than relying on claims alone. 397
Research Assistance
Arro considers Bevan capable of serving as an assistant on a research project: following Arro's general direction, managing details, and calculating data for Anabe to refine and verify. 503
- Tends and observes experimental mice at Peran Castle. 503
- Carefully records the mice's physical changes. 503
Engineering and Innovative Thinking
Bevan works on a hot-air-balloon design under Arro's instruction. Arro criticizes the design for lacking flexibility and room for error, while Bevan remains eager to improve it. 330
- Learns “Wizard Literacy,” Arro's term for thinking beyond immediate answers and mortal assumptions. 329
- Studies practical questions of load-bearing, flight, air, and innovation. 329 330
- Asks questions about combat mechanics, projectile deviation, and magic-power efficiency. 558
Relationships
- Arro — Teacher, later master. Arro trains Bevan in shadow-related knowledge, innovative thinking, combat principles, and broader questions of trust and fairness. Bevan agrees to become Arro's disciple. 230 397 558 575 616
- Baron Claire — Father. Claire leaves Bevan at Peran Castle and hopes Arro will teach him Wizard knowledge; he later prioritizes Bevan's safety amid the Earldom's political and military crisis. 226 555

- Captain Patton — Longtime acquaintance and mentor-like guardian. Patton teases Bevan over his sulking, helps him handle practical dangers, and teaches him the importance of vigilance and careful communication. 503 505
- Bard — Fellow resident of Peran Castle. Bard accompanies Arro and Bevan during the castle cleansing and later greets Bevan at the underground base. 230 509
- Knight Wilfrick — Maternal grandfather. Claire reveals that Bevan is Wilfrick's grandson and holds a high order of inheritance. 555
Story Role / Major Arcs
Peran Castle and Shadow Biology
Bevan becomes Arro's student after Claire leaves him at Peran Castle. Arro learns that Bevan can detect Shadow Biology but is traumatized by his mother's fate, then takes him into the castle-cleansing operation as part of his desensitization training. 226 230
Wizard Literacy and Invention
As Arro's student, Bevan receives lessons in innovation and broader problem-solving. He works on a hot-air balloon, but his initial tendency to focus only on immediate answers prompts Arro's lectures on “Wizard Literacy.” 329 330
Discovery of Shadow Talent
Bevan's detailed Meditation records lead Arro to investigate his shadow-control ability. After witnessing Bevan produce a shadow in candlelight, Arro confirms the ability is genuine Void Magic Power and reassures Bevan that it is beneficial. 397
Research and Territorial Duties
Arro entrusts Bevan with research-related work and considers involving him more in managing the Viscount Territory. Bevan also travels with Captain Patton, observes the territory's recovery, and learns discretion when an injured guard reports an attack near poison salt ore. 395 503 505
Anomaly-Space Crisis
Bevan follows Holly into Anomaly Space and becomes trapped in an illusionary village. Afterward, he fears Arro will enter another deadly trap, but Arro challenges him to consider how he would respond if a similar threat emerged while Arro was absent. 529 530 536
Master and Disciple
Arro decides to formalize their bond in hopes of completing his System's Novice Mission. Bevan accepts the meaning and obligations of becoming Arro's disciple, though Arro plans a proper apprenticeship ceremony with Claire's knowledge. 616
Trivia
- Bevan is one or two years older than Arro, though Arro's physique, dark complexion, and confidence make him appear older. 230
- He is estimated to be around twelve or thirteen years old when Arro first meets him. 230
- His high Magic Affinity may be connected either to a Demonic Creature bloodline inherited from an ancestor or to corrosion by foreign magic power; Arro does not yet know which explanation applies. 524
