"Check in. I have to check in. System, check in now."
"The host has chosen to check in. Check-in function activated."
"Congratulations, host. Check-in successful. This check-in has awarded: Junior Spiritual Pressure, Junior Flash Step, Hado #1–30, Bakudo #1–30, and a Zanpakuto (Asauchi state)."
As the system's voice faded, Naraku felt a strange power surge within his body, along with a flood of knowledge about Hado and Bakudo filling his mind.
A Zanpakuto? Aren't I in the Naruto world? What the hell is a Zanpakuto doing here? Isn't that a Bleach world ability? Damn, a Bleach character mixed into Naruto? System, are you messing with me?
Naraku couldn't help but grumble inwardly as he looked at the rewards from the check-in.
"Host, items obtained from check-ins are not limited to the current world; they are randomly drawn from the myriad realms. Additionally, if your luck is good enough, checking in during major events could even grant you the Rinnegan or Six Paths Mode!"
Alright, so items from all realms are possible. That's pretty flexible. Even though I didn't get any strong Naruto world abilities, Bleach world abilities aren't bad either. Some Zanpakuto, after Bankai, are downright broken in power.
Based on Naraku's past life experience, the power level of the Bleach world was definitely higher than the Naruto world. If someone like the Head-Captain showed up and unleashed his Bankai, the Naruto world would face annihilation—no one could stop it!
But that was still far off for him. For now, Naraku fantasized about future battles with ninjas: they'd throw a Fire Release, and he'd counter with a Sōkatsui; they'd use a Lightning Release, and he'd hit back with a Raikōhō. Perfect.
"Boom... bang..."
Even inside the shelter, the deafening sounds from outside came through intermittently, accompanied by sand and dust falling from the rocky ceiling above. This made Naraku worry whether the cave might collapse at any moment.
The Nine-Tails' rampage was essentially the starting point of the Naruto world. In this man-made disaster, the Fourth Hokage and his wife both died, leaving behind a son who became the Nine-Tails' jinchuriki. He grew up despised by the villagers, living a lonely life.
When Naraku watched Naruto in his past life, he felt sorry for him. From a young age, Naruto was ostracized, endured the villagers' disdain, often went hungry, yet still loved the village, worked tirelessly to become Hokage, and eventually earned everyone's recognition.
Naraku thought to himself, if it were him, he'd probably have turned dark long ago. But Naruto kept going. In terms of perseverance, Naraku knew he was far inferior.
The commotion outside showed no signs of stopping. Gradually, drowsiness crept over Naraku, and his eyes began to close on their own. Then, he fell asleep... Well, he was just a two-year-old, so being sleepy was normal...
When he woke up the next day, Naraku was lying on a big bed. He sat up, looked around, and figured the Nine-Tails' rampage was over, and he was back home.
Right, he hadn't carefully checked last night's check-in rewards yet. And the Zanpakuto—where was it?
"System, are you there? Where are my check-in rewards? And my Zanpakuto? How do I check them?"
"Host, just think 'view my status' in your mind. Also, the items obtained from the check-in have been automatically stored in the System Inventory. Just think 'retrieve' to take them out."
Nice, it even comes with an inventory. This will make traveling outside much more convenient.
"Open my status panel," Naraku thought silently.
Immediately, a translucent virtual panel appeared before him.
"Host: Hyuga Naraku
Level: Junior Spiritual Pressure (Genin)
Abilities: Hado #1–30, Bakudo #1–30, Junior Flash Step
Items: Zanpakuto (Asauchi state)"
Naraku looked at the panel and pondered: "Junior Spiritual Pressure corresponds to Genin, huh? So maybe Intermediate and Advanced Spiritual Pressure correspond to Chunin and Jonin. I wonder what level of Spiritual Pressure matches a Kage—maybe Captain-level? Whatever, I'll find out when I raise my Spiritual Pressure later."
Then, his gaze shifted to the Zanpakuto sitting in the System Inventory. He thought "retrieve," and suddenly, a plain-looking Katana appeared in his hand.
So this is a Zanpakuto? No, strictly speaking, this sword can't be called a Zanpakuto yet—it's just an Asauchi.
Since the system showed it was in an Asauchi state, that meant he had to call out its name to achieve Shikai. Only after unlocking Shikai would it become a true Zanpakuto. But... the system didn't tell him its name. Hmm, it seemed he'd have to awaken it himself.
With a thought, the Asauchi was stored back in the System Inventory.
"Now, let's look at Hado and Bakudo. Hado and Bakudo are collectively called Kido. They cover offense and defense—both solid skills. Too bad I didn't get the healing-type skill, Kaidō, this time. Otherwise, I'd have all three branches of Kido."
"Should I test the power of Hado?"
The thought made Naraku's heart itch with excitement.
Whether it was ninjutsu or Kido, both were supernatural powers in his past life. Back then, as a shut-in loser, he'd fantasized countless times while watching anime or reading novels about having such abilities.
Now that he actually had them, he couldn't wait to try them out.
Naraku glanced around the room. On the bedside table sat a vase. You're it.
So, he stood up, faced the vase, calmed himself, and focused on the strange power within his body—this must be Spiritual Pressure.
He pointed a finger at the vase and chanted, "Hado #1: Thrust."
As the words left his mouth, the power in his body gathered at his fingertip, and a small shockwave shot out toward the vase.
"Bang."
The vase shattered on impact.
"It actually works, hahaha..."
Naraku felt a surge of excitement.
The power wasn't great—it could only break a vase—but he'd only used the first-level Kido. The higher the sequence number, the stronger the Kido.
Besides, he was only at Junior Spiritual Pressure now. If he raised it to Intermediate or Advanced in the future and combined it with Kido, even Hado #1 could kill someone outright.
"What's wrong, Naraku? Did something happen?"
A voice called from outside the room, accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps.
The wooden door slid open with a shwoosh, and the one who entered was none other than Narak's father, the head of the Hyuga Clan, Hyuga Hiashi.
"So it was just a vase that fell. You're not hurt, are you, Narak?"
Hyuga Hiashi looked at the broken vase pieces on the floor, assuming Narak had accidentally knocked it over, and couldn't help pulling him into his arms with a concerned tone.
Narak looked at Hiashi's worried face, broke into a sweet smile, and shook his head to show he was fine.
"Still, my body might be two years old, but my soul's almost thirty. Having to play the son in front of someone younger than me... this feeling is really..."
Narak couldn't help another round of complaints in his mind.
"Whatever. I've taken over your son's body for nothing, so I owe you that much. I'll just act cute and play young, be your son properly—consider it repaying a debt."
