A Man's Dream
Two days later.
Central Perk.
"I told you Carol wasn't that kind of person. Adam thinks too badly of people."
Ross, contrary to his previous irritability, chuckled and said, "It was a complete accident, wasn't it, Monica?"
"Right."
Monica gave an awkward smile.
"Sorry."
Adam and Monica exchanged a glance, vaguely guessing what was going on, and quickly apologized, saying, "I was just talking nonsense before."
Then, not daring to ask any more questions, she quickly changed the subject. "So, did you get the naming rights for the child?"
"Got it."
Ross smiled happily, "The boy will be named Ben Geller, and the girl will be named Julia Geller. What lovely names! And listen to the names they're considering: Minnie? Helen?"
"Minnie? Mickey Mouse's girlfriend?"
"Helen Geller? If I were given three more days of sight?"
"Wow, this is the same style worn by celebrities, it's really great."
Everyone started making fun of it.
Just then, Chandler strode in, full of himself. Seeing that everyone was still discussing and ignoring him, he couldn't help but interrupt, "Hey, hey, hey, I've been sitting here for seven seconds, and not a single one of you has asked me about my date with Aurora?"
"Oh, how was your date, Chandler?"
Phoebe mimicked Aurora's pronunciation and said mischievously.
"Marvelous."
Chandler, eager to share his excitement from the previous night, stood up abruptly. "She's a woman I've never met before, her life is so vibrant..."
Then, Chandler recounted Aurora's remarkable life story, which truly astonished everyone, eliciting repeated gasps of disbelief.
In summary, Aurora travels the world, openly has a husband and boyfriend, and can also date Chandler, during which she counts the coins in Chandler's pocket with her feet.
Regarding her relationship with Chandler, she bluntly defined it as. "Italian Comrade-in-Arms."
Because she is truly Italy.
This is interesting, like a regimental commander yelling at the second battalion commander, "Second battalion commander, where the hell is your Italian Cannon?"
The second battalion commander, on the other hand, truly became an international friend of Italy, bringing along some of his country's specialties...
Why are you looking at me?
Seeing everyone turn to look at him upon hearing this, Adam's lips twitched, and he said speechlessly, "Shouldn't you all be looking at Joey?"
"That's right."
Everyone suddenly realized what was happening and looked at Joey in unison.
"I thought Paris were the most romantic, but I didn't expect they're not as good at having fun as you Italy."
Phoebe was amazed.
Joey nodded proudly, looking quite pleased with herself.
"It's a real shame you two broke up."
Monica comforted her.
"What do you mean 'broken up'? I have a date with her on Thursday."
Chandler laughed and said, "Didn't you hear the whole story?"
"..."
Monica said speechlessly, "Did you not hear the whole story? This is outrageous! How could you dare to date a woman like that?"
"That's what I thought at first too."
Chandler shrugged and explained, "But then I thought, I'm not losing out at all. I can have fun without taking responsibility. It's every man's dream."
Joey nodded again.
"No, that's not true."
Phoebe asked incredulously, "Ross, this isn't your dream, is it?"
"Of course not!"
Ross immediately denied it, but under Chandler's disdainful gaze, he weakly changed his mind. "Okay, that's every man's dream."
So you guys don't mind if the girl you're dating goes on another date with someone else?
Monica couldn't believe it.
"I can't do it."
Joey said seriously, "When dating a woman, I have to make sure that I've dated more people than she has."
Monica and Phoebe looked at each other with disdain.
"Adam, can you do me a favor?"
Chandler looked at Adam.
"You say?"
Adam was taken aback.
"I want to give Aurora the perfect date, so I want to book the Palma Garden Restaurant."
Chandler smiled ingratiatingly, "But I can't get an appointment. You're a rising star writer in New York, maybe you can. Could you do me this favor? By the way, you and Caroline, and Aurora and I, are quite alike. We could totally have a four-person date, what do you think?"
"Well."
Seeing everyone's expressions of deep agreement, Adam smiled wryly and said, "Chandler, I can give it a try, but I advise you not to take it so seriously. Between men and women, whether it's love or the Italian Comrade-in-Arms, it's always the case that whoever cares more loses. Aurora is an old hand, so you're bound to lose."
There's no such thing as a win-lose situation.
Chandler laughed dismissively, "This is a win-win situation for us!"
Adam sighed inwardly; there was another unspoken meaning to him.
Chandler's predicament was most likely related to Nora.
This Aurora is charming, travels the world, has countless lovers, and has a lot of stories to tell—how much she resembles Nora!
The bizarre past of Chandler's parents had a comprehensive impact on him.
His father taught him the skills of drawing and shaping eyebrows and curling eyelashes in a gay manner. Subconsciously, people would assume he was gay at first glance, and he would hug Joey so often that even they would complain that he hugged too much.
His mother caused him to have strange dreams, such as the one in his dream where she called him, which revealed his complex love-hate relationship with his mother, Nora.
Now that he's met a woman who looks so much like Nora, no matter how sweet her words are—how perfect she is and how no responsibility she has—subconsciously he'll give more to Aurora and demand more from her.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have taken such a serious step on their second date, asking Adam to help her book a fancy restaurant and inviting Adam and Caroline for a four-person date.
You should know that in the United States, introducing your date to your friends is somewhat similar to introducing your partner to your parents in East Country; it's not a casual matter.
Chandler clearly didn't realize it, but Adam did.
But as a 'parent' in a dual sense, he couldn't very well offer advice or refuse.
Chandler was clearly intoxicated, in every sense of the word. At this point, no matter how well-intentioned your reminders or refusals were, they would be unacceptable to the intoxicated Chandler.
Adam had no choice but to agree. Thinking about it carefully, he realized that if Chandler hadn't gotten too involved in the end, it wouldn't have been a big deal, and it seems they broke up later anyway.
Adam called the reservation number Chandler gave him, gave his name, and actually got a reservation.
Actually, you'll understand once you think about it.
This is, after all, the United States, a country where capital reigns supreme. High-end restaurants and fashion boutiques often have staff dedicated to recording and updating information about local celebrities.
Places that ordinary people can't enter or can't even book in advance are open to celebrities at any time, because they are all high-end, high-quality clients, and naturally, they have to be given plenty of face.
Without this distinction, how can we elevate our image? How can we make more money?
It's all business!
