He and Miss Benanis found a corrupted forest and evidence of a Blood Spirit School expedition, then returned with a force of Arcanists as someone approached their camp.

• Shade and Miss Lathers defeated the Puppet Show’s Dragon and Puppet, freeing Miss Benanis and the other victims, and Shade learned that the Mad Earth had contaminated Miss Benanis’s soul.
• Shade consulted the Silver Moon Library, learned that Earth Power and ancient rituals could counter Mad Earth, and began searching for the Chosen Ones and the required rituals.
• Shade and Luvia learned that Saint Perry might be connected to the Earth’s Chosen One, then attended Miss Benanis’s performance, where she was cured with an Omnipotent Earth Elixir and Margaret chose to become her apprentice.
• Shade traveled to the Fifth Epoch’s Butterfly Festival, won the song contest, and asked the Butterfly God for information about Mad Earth, receiving a gift he had to search for in the city.
• Shade and Miss Benanis searched for Saint Perry’s tomb near Eldron Lake, met a young Unicorn, and followed it to a corrupted patch of forest.
• Shade used the Clay Holy Grail to heal the corrupted land and discovered a buried stone statue, while Miss Benanis tracked signs of a Blood Spirit School expedition and a wounded survivor.
• Shade returned with Miss Benanis, three nine-ring Sorceresses, and five Mid-Ring Arcanists to search the forest, as a watcher reported that someone living was approaching, Miss Benanis told Shade how she and Siris Lathers had founded the new Golden Dawn.

Shade and his allies uncovered the source of the Mad Earth at Saint Perry’s cemetery and Lake Heart Island, while pursuing Thomas Granger’s fate and Margaret’s test. Shade traced Thomas’s remains to the Old God-Original Crack and ended the arc with Luvia as they began investigating the Stone Masons Association and the collapsed Colossus.

• Shade and Miss Benanis passed Saint Perry’s trial, purified the church and its chained coffin, and recovered the silver flute and Earth Power inheritance.
• Shade gave Luvia the hand bone, and she learned Bountiful Domain as they considered whether Thomas Granger might be the Chosen One of the Earth.
• Shade returned Haila Osenfott’s ring, won Stone Osenfott’s horse race, and then explored Lake Heart Island with Iluna, where they found Mad Earth beneath the manor.
• Shade and Iluna defeated the black-mud serpent, freed the Farmer Family’s trapped souls, and learned from Thomas Granger’s letters that he had died beside the Old God-Original Crack beneath White River Valley Vineyard.
• Shade and Luvia brought Thomas’s remains to the Forgotten Church, used a Spirit Board to learn he would appear where the land went mad, and photographed a lifelike statue.
• Shade and Luvia spent an evening together in the woods with the Unicorn, where they met its caretaker Emilia and asked her to research Randall River Valley’s history and curse.
• Shade gave Emilia an Ancient Elf poem book and asked her to search Saint Byron’s for hidden spaces, while the Unicorn gave him its tail hair for Luvia.

Shade investigated the Stone Heart Demon’s influence, the Guardians of Randall River Valley, and the Stone Masons Association while pursuing clues about the Heart of the Earth. He learned the association’s grievances and its founder’s bargain with a Demon, then planned to search for its original contract with Luvia.

• Shade investigated the black-mud spring, gained Earth Power from the Shadow of Randall River Valley, and received help from Mr. Lathers and Miss Lathers.
• Shade and his allies uncovered Mr. Lathers’s notebook and learned that he had found the Heart of the Earth but could not enter the Hidden Wall.
• Shade and Luvia joined Miss Benanis and Miss Lathers in investigating the Guardians and auction items connected to the Heart of the Earth.
• Shade learned that Stone Osenfott’s people had found a vast silver deposit, while Margaret considered Prince William’s investment proposal.
• Emilia Sinode gave Shade a Time Key and exchanged investigation information with him, while Liana sensed an ancient evil in the city.
• Shade and Mr. Antonio investigated reports of moving sculptures at the Stone Masons Association and heard that the Sun Church had exorcised its warehouse.
• Margaret took Shade to meet Old Hack, who explained that the association wanted delayed construction payments and an apology from the royal family.
• Shade learned from Old Hack about the association’s bargain with a Demon and its vanished founder, Mr. Fleming, then planned to search for the founders’ contract with Luvia.

Shade recovered the Stone Masons Association’s ancient contract, completed its statue trial, and gave the resulting power to Miss Benanis while investigating a demonic threat connected to Stone Osenfott. He solved a murder at Princess Angelina’s birthday banquet and entered Eternal Night City, where he found Fiona Drago and began helping her escape.

• Shade and Luvia found the ancient contract, met the deceased Old Stone Mason Humphrey, and completed the statue-carving trial, earning a miniature statue, documents, and a medal.
• Shade gave Miss Benanis the Association’s documents and Earth Power Statue, while Doctor Schneider’s test of Humphrey’s medal revealed demonic corruption and led Shade to learn Vision Demon.
• Shade attended Angelina’s birthday banquet, gave her a statue, and discreetly investigated Daniel Philip’s murder, exposing Raphael Birmingham as the killer.
• Shade entered Eternal Night City through Emilia’s Time Key, found Fiona Drago under the café’s control, and freed her with his Divine Embers.
