After the battle, Shade helped Sister Devlin control the First Fire, supported Miss Danist through the end of her Time Curse, and said goodbye to Emilia as she returned to the Academy. He uncovered a hidden library passage and gained a new Time Corridor door, leaving new time-travel possibilities open.

• Shade absorbed part of the First Fire to restore Sister Devlin, then sealed the rift at the Black Mausoleum with Crystal Light.
• Shade rejected becoming Elf King, while Emilia asked him to dance and kissed him beneath the moon before leaving for the Academy.
• Miss Danist challenged Shade to a duel, then confessed her fears and spent her eighteenth birthday with him as the Red Moon broke her Time Curse.
• Miss Danist discovered she could shift between her younger and present-day forms, and she and Shade agreed to keep their relationship secret and meet privately.
• Shade learned from Emilia's dream that Thomas Bennett had been involved in the Twin Princes' Time Loop, then searched the Academy Library with Emilia and Miss Danist and found hidden Fifth Epoch manuscripts.
• Emilia used her Destiny Ring to fuse the Fossil Seed with Shade's bedroom door, creating a Time Corridor entrance that could lead to other times and spaces.

Shade returned from Vesta Woodland, strengthened his bonds with his companions, and helped Emilia awaken the power of the Tree Staff. The Moon Tear fused with Shade’s soul as signs of war and a grisly murder investigation pointed toward new dangers.

• Shade sealed the Church’s Tree Hollows, allied with the elves, and learned from Joanna Lavalle that Miss Bister, a Fifth Epoch Moon Chaser, was still alive.
• Shade and Doctor Schneider searched Professor Yuke Wood’s office, found a dangerous book about the Great Demon, and Shade made a vow that briefly manifested a dark gold tree.
• Shade returned to Tobesk and used a temporary transfer station to reunite with Blaney, then decided to seek a lasting way to bring the people he missed into his time.
• Shade gave Emilia a Tree Staff made from the Black Key, and it fused with her Destiny Ring after Shade granted her permission to wield the Tree of Old Days’ power.
• Emilia presented Shade with the elves’ Moon Tear, and he took it to Black Night Spirit Temple, where it vanished and left his Ninth Ring of Fate with a silvery sheen.
• Shade learned that the Moon Tear had fused with his soul, granting him lunar immortality, greater spirit reserves and recovery, and the Moon Fire thaumaturgy.
• Shade suspected the Anjou Royal Family was using Miss Bethany’s murder to provoke war between Kasonlik and Dellaireon.

Shade balanced farewells, winter hardship, and plans to expand his home before joining the Doctor’s group to test the Fate Observer Cards. The experiments drew three Fate Weavers, exposed clues about Dorothy, Leisha, and the Doctor, and ended with Schneider continuing his cautious study of the Collection of Soul Stories.

• Shade investigated a trafficking ring with Ridgewich Field, while the Duchess of Saladir received authority to pursue the case and the arrests implicated powerful nobles.
• Shade spent time with Daniste, Leisha, Dorothy, Margaret, and Flora, then helped Margaret part from Ashley Bethany and urged Flora to apologize to Daniste for her painting.
• Sylvia tested Shade’s understanding of her thaumaturgical research, shared her work with him, and became intimate with him at her hidden tower.
• Galina proposed buying Number 7 Saint Derain Square to expand Shade’s home, and Shade agreed to share the purchase cost with the Witches.
• Vanessa left Tobesk with the Golden Dawn Opera Troupe as winter began, and Shade helped residents through the blizzard before accepting the Academy’s Fate Weaver experiment mission.
• Shade, Doctor Schneider, Priest Augustus, Luvia, and Dorothy activated Fate Observer Cards around Tobesk, killing a Bone Spider at Regent Park and two half-spiders at a warehouse.

Shade investigated the Fate Casino and Miss Goode’s mysterious gift while preparing for the Year-End Festival and welcoming friends from across the continent. The arc ended with the group celebrating together at the Moon Sanctuary hot springs as the new year approached.

• Shade and the Doctor’s group entered the cemetery to investigate the final experimental site, escaped the Church Ring Arcanists, and received the Eternal Flower from the Puppet Boy.
• Shade showed Luvia and Dorothy his card and its Fate Proverb, while Iluna joined them for dinner and described her past and the Peace Church’s suspicions.
• Shade learned that the relic tests had earned his group third place and the Thirsty Blood Lantern, then took charge while the Doctor traveled north to investigate old records and the Demon Hunter’s traces.
• Shade attended Bella’s Moon Bay bridge celebrations, where Matilda warned that Sete Duchy and Milson Duchy had gone to war.
• Shade entered the Fate Casino in his home, gambled with its bald diviner, and learned that the house’s stable doors had awakened a hidden casino door.
