Shade wanted to correct him, but the gift bestowed by this Butterfly God was not based on what Shade wanted, but on what He wished to give:

His tone made it clear that he would not allow Shade to argue, so Shade could only nod:

In addition to "the five stories of Randall River Valley," "the three God Summoning rituals," "finding the Chosen Ones," and "purifying Mad Earth," Shade's mission in Randall River Valley now included "finding the Butterfly God's gift."
If he made a list, he would probably already be lost in its complexity.
After the god bestowed blessings upon the mortals who had offered songs, faint and cheerful singing appeared in the once utterly silent underground cave, making this place feel even more like a true banquet. Thus, the god presented the second banquet offering the mortals needed to complete:

Mr. Lehmann smiled. This gentleman, who could write lyrics himself, was evidently skilled at poetry. Nun Perry frowned slightly; she was probably not good at writing. The Witch maintained a respectful expression, while Miss Blanchett was clearly quite composed.
