The Month of Rising Winds had reached its twenty-ninth day. During the first quarter of 1854, Shade and the young ladies' Saturday evening study sessions in the study had covered fairy tales related to "Cinderella." Tonight, Shade did not intend to immediately begin a new subject. Instead, he told Dorothy about some of his experiences in Eternal Night City, discussing the state of the brand-new fairy-tale Mystic Lock before and after he acquired it, as well as his feelings about it.
Leisha's Low-Ring Words of Sublimation and Mid-Ring Words of Sublimation had respectively chosen the stories of Sleeping Princess and Mermaid, while Dorothy had chosen Match Girl and Cinderella. Although Words of Sublimation and Mystic Locks differed greatly, Shade's experiences and the powers he possessed could still genuinely help the princess and Miss Writer master their own powers.
Then, at eight in the evening, after Shade once again dropped the crystal slipper and demonstrated the effects of the Mystic Lock in its normal state, Dorothy set down the pen in her hand and clipped it onto her notebook, signaling that Shade could stop.
"The effects of your Mystic Lock are very different from the defense formed by the Power of Time in my Words of Sublimation, Castle of Night, where only time can stop the blessed princess. Perhaps at every ring, besides obtaining the Words of Sublimation Spirit Rune, I could also acquire additional Spirit Runes such as Return Change, thereby altering the effects of my Words of Sublimation."
Dorothy pondered aloud:
"This truly is an approach I had never considered before. I originally thought this fairy tale corresponded to the powers of time and night, but in your hands, it unexpectedly became a power of space."
