The two continued drawing cards, and the Old Gravedigger, in an excellent mood, did not forget to continue his story:
"The villagers' legend isn't much different from rumors you might hear elsewhere. They believe a Corpse Ghoul is hiding in this cemetery, but it has no interest in corpses or living people. Instead, it occasionally goes into the village and steals the chickens, ducks, geese, and sheep raised by the villagers."
Shade glanced at his Hand Cards:
"But is it really a Corpse Ghoul? Could it be some wild animal, like a wolf or fox?"
"The Church thought so too. They sent people here for a routine inspection, but as you know, there was no evidence for such rumors. Besides, there had never been any human casualties, so the investigation ultimately came to nothing."
The old man shrugged, looked at his Hand Cards, and smiled confidently:
"I'll stand on two cards. My luck is a little too good today. Moon 10, Flower 9, that's 19 points."
Though Shade was not standing, he revealed his own Hand Cards:
"I have Sun 5 and Sun 13, so I'll keep drawing. Let's hope I don't bust."
He lifted the corner of the third card, then flung it hard onto the chair. The card struck the wood with a smack, and both of them leaned over to look. Flowers 2.
"20 points. I win the second round."
Shade let out a breath, while the Old Gravedigger did not seem to mind:
"Continue. Now it comes down to the third round. I refuse to believe you'll get 20 points again."
The two reached out to draw cards, while the local story continued:
"So, has anyone actually seen that Corpse Ghoul? Not some strange shadow, but the monster itself."
Shade was quite curious about this, but
