The Door Key had not consumed much, and although the Moonlight Wheel Second Form he had used in haste just now had been ineffective, it had likewise consumed little because of that.
Compared to Shade, the three Corpse Ghouls were in far worse condition. Shade had effectively broken their Mystic Lock head-on, and under the spell backlash, the three Corpse Ghouls had gathered together listlessly, without taking the chance to counterattack while Shade recovered.
Even if they were undead creatures, Shade recovered faster than they did. After only a few breaths, as scorching air rushed into his lungs, he raised his head again and looked at the three Corpse Ghouls huddled together.
They noticed Shade's movement as well. Almost at the same moment, the three corpses dashed off in three different directions. One crawled up the wall toward a higher place, one leaped down and dove into the soil like a swimmer, while the last charged straight at Shade.
"Don't these things have too many tricks?"
The Corpse Ghoul charging Shade began to swell all over, while black mist seeped from the cracks in its expanding muscles. Its eyes emitted a horrifying, ghastly green light. As the entire Corpse Ghoul arced through the air, it actually caused the heat-distorted space to warp even further, like an eraser grinding across a pencil sketch.
"Black Moon Rune."
Shade thrust out his long staff like a javelin. Only after it pinned the charging Corpse Ghoul to the ground did the enormous Black Moon Rune slowly appear beneath it.
With a soft bang, the Corpse Ghoul finally exploded. But it had no real force; it merely scattered a huge cloud of White Ash everywhere. Shade pulled out the Yggdrasil Staff and avoided the bursting ash.
"Help me keep an eye on its soul."
