"I've found this city truly remarkable. Not only can you see trains on the streets at night, but now, just wandering around, you can run into friends who shouldn't be here."
The Doctor joked from the side to lighten the mood. When Shade tried to thank him, he shook his head, indicating it was nothing.
"But this way, apart from the Priest, all our people are here now. Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling about this?"
"Doctor, that's superstition. Don't believe in it so casually."
Shade replied offhandedly, then asked the Young Lady in his arms:
"How did you get here? And what about her?"
He released Dorothy and asked anxiously. Dorothy and Leisha could contact one another at any time; it was impossible for them not to know each other's situation.

"I was at home writing a manuscript when I suddenly appeared here. Not in the city, though, but outside the city at the southeastern corner. That was an hour ago. I learned where this was from the children in the village. I had originally planned to ask for directions and find out how to get into the city, but then I ran into the Doctor coming out of the market."
