Miss Aurora blinked. Seeing that Miss Galina and Megan had no intention of explaining, she assumed they had been discussing something private: "This is wonderful, like returning to the Fifth Epoch recorded in books. Witches enjoying themselves at salons and banquets, discussing pleasant and interesting subjects, comparing whose Luku Birds had more unusual colors, or who had found prettier, cleverer, and more gifted apprentices."
She reclined comfortably against the sofa, watching Shade dance with Siris. Audrey and Miss Galina also looked over, each of the three Great Witches lost in her own thoughts. After a while, Megan blinked and transformed into Audrey, setting her wineglass on the tea table before saying seriously, "Galina, didn't you used to have somewhat different plans?"
She had never discussed this before, since she had not been close with Galina Cavendish in the past. The Red-haired Duchess nodded.
"Yes. My goal was Saladir County's independence. I wanted to establish a new Witch kingdom in this Sixth Epoch. Or at least find the Council a piece of land that could serve as its headquarters."
"So has that goal changed now?"
Audrey asked again. Miss Aurora spun the ring on her right index finger with her left hand and smiled at her as well. "I think you must have other ideas now, right?"
The Duchess looked towards Leisha, Angelina, and Margaret, who likewise could not dance with Shade on such an occasion. They stood by the windows with a group of young noble ladies, discussing rumors that Dorothy Louisa, author of the Detective Hamilton Story Collection, was also in the area.
Then her gaze shifted back to Shade. "Yes, other ideas. Perhaps I was too conservative in the past. Now it seems that we can gain far more than I once imagined."
