The Great Witch of Space sighed in heartfelt admiration, but Miss Benanis had another question:
"But I still don't understand. Megan explained it on the way here: the first candidate—her ancestor—lost her eligibility after touching forbidden power, while the second candidate ceased to exist after losing one soul.
"But in that case, Miss Grace White and Miss Helen Black should have become the Chosen Ones. Why was the fourth candidate fused in as well? And if that was possible, why were Megan and Audrey pushed away at the time?"
The latter question was what Miss Benanis truly cared about.
"I think Dorothy and Leisha were included because my Thaumaturgy helped bring about their Fusion. As for why Megan and Audrey were pushed away, it was because they were part of the first candidate. If they had joined as well, it would have meant that the first candidate still existed, creating a paradox."
Of course, all of that was merely speculation:
"My original idea was to use the fact that I couldn't become a Chosen One to carry out a ritual and create a paradox. I never expected things to turn out like this instead. Still, it isn't bad. At least the destiny of the Chosen One hasn't fallen entirely upon one person."
"Then how strong are you now?"
Miss Benanis continued to ask the Butterfly Wings Girl curiously.
"Without using powers related to the Whisper Element, I'm roughly on par with Sister Devlin at full strength, though slightly weaker than the Guardian of the Earth at full strength. If I use all my power, it will contaminate Leisha and Dorothy's souls to a certain extent."
The Butterfly Wings Girl spoke. Although Sister Devlin was still at the hotel, all the ladies here knew the strength of that Death's Chosen One.
