Chapter 2041: Witch Echo
Shade did not notice the strange look on the witch sitting beside him. Now that he knew he could leave behind a small number of items, he endured his mental discomfort and rummaged through his pockets for some toys:
"Food, drinking water, changes of clothes... Do you need soap? Better leave some behind. Oh, I don't have a fetish for women's clothing. I carry women's clothes to deal with certain awkward situations."
He stuffed the items that had transformed from toys into real objects into Miss Isabella's hands. Only when he truly felt he could no longer hold on did he finally inspect the card he had just obtained.
The back of the brand-new card in his hand bore exactly the same pattern as the Rhodes Cards and the Myriad Aspects of Impermanence Cards. Turning it over, he saw gilded Delarion Language written at the top of the card:

The image on the card depicted the second-floor window of the house standing at the edge of Saint Derain Square amid a sky full of yellow sand. Mr. Armand Bernhardt, pale-faced and indistinct in appearance, looked out from the window beyond the card. The composition was not particularly stunning, yet it was especially chilling.
At the bottom of the front were three lines. Shade softly read them aloud:
A soul that died in calamity, then returned from death when the doomsday arrived.
The calamity that reversed life and death originated from Middlesburg.
When the final moment arrives, death itself shall also return to termination. Nothing in this era can die, and there is no life here.
After reading those words, two unfamiliar memories appeared in Shade's mind.
