Luvia watched Shade use up the silver paint, but in the end, not a single additional letter appeared on the Serpent's Shedding.
She remained silent, and neither Shade nor Dorothy disturbed her. Shade wanted to comfort her by saying that the odds of successfully making this kind of ink in one attempt had never been high. Besides, they had not been certain the ink would work in the first place.
Only after a full five minutes did Luvia speak again:
"Shade, you just said there was a mural at the location of 'Shadow of Herm' on the second peak of the Snow Mountain, and that mural also has similar paint? And it's very likely that paint is the source of this formula."
Shade immediately nodded:
"Yes. The paints the Elders gave me, written on the Snake Skin Scroll, were all very simple, but the paints there were different colors."
Luvia was not disappointed by this failure:
"Your bloods produced different colors when added to the paint. That alone proves the paint may be useful; it just isn't useful enough. I suspect the paint on those ancient Snake Skin Scrolls is merely the foundational component of the paint we need. The mural at Shadow of Herm may be different."
She frowned and thought for a moment:
"Shade, find Emilia tomorrow, then we'll go with you to Fatumonst Snow Mountain. Do what you need to do. I'll have Emilia ride Ellie and take me to Shadow of Herm to inspect that mural. Although 'Ink-Type I' failed in testing, I don't think we'll come away empty-handed."
"No problem. We still have enough Philosopher's Stone to support more attempts, but one Tear Gland Fern may not be enough. Use these materials for now. I'll have Sivie and Claire's follower keep a closer eye on
