Dorothy immediately thought of what everyone had discussed over dinner:
"Could the opportunity for the egg to hatch lie with the [Saint Alliance]?"
"That's possible, but we can't rule out something else suddenly appearing. Before today, who could have imagined that the ['Mother'] would appear beside Angelina?"
Shade gently stroked the egg, and it swayed slightly in his hand. That was how it expressed happiness.
"If it hatches first, then it will most likely be the first 'Child of the End' born in this Chosen Ones War. Although we've decided not to let Mrs. Carter take part in the Chosen Ones War, we still need to guard against someone noticing Mrs. Carter."
Daniste clenched a fist:
"Once it hatches successfully, I'll bring Teacher back to the Academy. I don't believe anyone in this era can breach the Academy."
Luvia and Shade exchanged a glance. They were not worried about anyone breaching Saint Byron's in the Far North. What worried them was that, for reasons currently unknown, the hatched egg might be unable to leave Arcadia City for long, just like Grace and Helen.
With Little Mia keeping it company, the dragon egg did not need Daniste's constant attention. Thus, once the night had deepened, Daniste simply bid it farewell before eagerly entering Shade's room.
Recently, Shade had always been having strange dreams. The Sea of Origin, the Death Water Domain, and even Little Mia breaking out of her shell—though that last one did not count. The various strange dreams had even made him wonder whether he had finally awakened a prophetic gift comparable to Luvia's. But that also meant he had to spend a long time after waking up thinking about which dreams were false and which were guidance bestowed by Destiny.
