The rain in Tobesk truly lasted the entire Sunday. When Luvia arrived at 6 Saint Derain Square as promised that evening, the rain had not eased in the slightest.

The night carried the chill of late autumn edging into winter. In the hazy, intimate light of the entryway, the Girl with Purple Eyes crossed the curtain of rain beneath the eaves, strung like pearls, and entered the house. Shade put away her umbrella, then went upstairs with the slightly chilled girl.

Rainwater flowed down the drainage pipes along the walls and into the gutters below. The entire city lay bathed in rain, peaceful and still.

On a rainy late-autumn night, having a candlelit dinner with the girl he loved in a house of his own was truly pleasant. During dinner, Luvia told Shade about a strange dream she had recently had.

Perhaps she had been too worried about Middlesburg. Though half a week had passed since that great battle, Luvia had still dreamed that even Iluna and Sister Devlin working together had failed to stop Joey Barton from forcibly bringing back Marylin Handel from death.

This directly led to the Level 0 Relic completely losing control, and before dawn on Thursday, Middlesburg was struck by the horrifying calamity of ten thousand ghosts running wild.

"Was I not in your dream?"

With a napkin tucked around him, Shade sat on the other side of the table holding a silver dinner fork. Mia lay stretched out beside his hand, waiting for Shade to feed her.

The Girl with Purple Eyes gently shook her head in the candlelight.

"You were not in the dream, but Middlesburg was not destroyed. Sister Devlin ignited a great fire to block the evil spirits from the Interstice. Joey Barton, regretting his actions, also joined that doomed resistance.
