Battle of Dragon Valley
Dragon Valley, in front of Stone Fortress.
The dragon vein monsters stood ready, letting out low growls.
The Wyvern flew darkly through the sky, their wings pressed tightly together, like thick, dark clouds that blocked out the sunlight.
The Wasteland Striding Dragon roared, like the beating of drums, as they trampled the ground. Three Chimera stood on the edge of the cliff, their three heads roaring in unison.
Dragon Vein Hobgoblin Lizardmen guarded the fortress, silently awaiting the arrival of the enemy.
Although the most elite troops had long been transferred to the south, the remaining members of the Dragon Valley remained the backbone of the former Ember Nest. Many of them were veterans who had participated in the Battle of Trier, but had not yet followed the Red Dragon to the south.
During Keosius's absence, Dolo's trusted subordinate, the Hobgoblin Dror, became the temporary steward of Dragon Valley.
He obtained the position that Dolo had once dreamed of, but unfortunately the center of the Embers of the Burned Kingdom has now shifted to North Wind Fortress, and Dragon Valley is now more like a border defense stronghold and a major source of soldiers.
"Call--"
A cold wind howled and rushed into the valley.
Dror sneezed, his expression growing even more serious.
"Just as Dolo said, they will come with the cold wind."
"Frost Giant"
The Hobgoblin stood atop the highest point of the Stone Fortress, gazing into the distance. On the horizon, he saw many enormous figures—the Frost Giant army.
Hundreds of Frost Giant, some riding enormous Tundra Striding Dragon and others running on the ground, charged toward the valley, accompanied by clouds of steam.
The ground was shaking violently as the giants marched so quickly.
As the temporary supervisor of Dragon Valley, Dror was still relatively inexperienced. He didn't do any extra pre-battle mobilization, but simply raised the spear engraved with the Embers of the Burned Emblem, mimicking the image of Dolo in his memory, and shouted loudly, "For the Embers of the Burned Kingdom!"
"Fight for the Great Red Dragon!"
The monsters below were immediately shaken, and cheers and jubilation continued for a long time.
"Roar—"
They had all experienced that battle, and their worship of the Red Dragon was almost like that of a god. Moreover, the Embers of the Burned Kingdom had even fed them.
These Frost Giant were indeed powerful, but the dragon-blooded servants only felt the excitement of facing a formidable foe—they were the Evil Dragon Claws.
Meanwhile, in the Frost Giant ranks, Baya swung his Dragon Bone Pickaxe and roared in battle.
"Take down this fortress!"
"Let them see what Frost Scourge really is!"
The Frost Giant rushed in with the cold wind.
However, they first fell into a trap dug by the Kobold, unassuming creatures who were masters of traps. Several Frost Giant were caught off guard and fell into specially made pits, pierced by sharp spears.
One Tundra Striding Dragon even tripped over the steel cable, crashing down with a heavy cry, crushing the knight on its back and flattening two Frost Giant in the process.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
With Dror's command to "fire," cannon fire roared from the Stone Fortress, echoing through the valley.
Shells rained down on the Frost Giant, sending shrapnel flying and dust flying everywhere. Several more unfortunate Frost Giant were killed on the spot.
Baya was somewhat surprised by the speed of the casualties, but still roared, "These petty tricks won't work on us!"
"Charge! Crush them!"
Several of their kind fell one after another, but the Frost Giant showed no sign of retreating.
"Hiss—"
Accompanied by a noisy roar, the "dark clouds" in the sky descended, and hundreds of Wyvern swooped down in a chaotic manner, some spewing scorching flames, some biting with their teeth, and some ambushing with their tails stinging with poisonous barbs.
After suffering initial losses, the Frost Giant immediately launched a counterattack.
They are natural enemies of dragon-like creatures and are very experienced in hunting these flying lizards.
The Frost Giant hurled huge rocks into the sky, knocking down the chaotic flying Wyvern. Taking advantage of the Wyvern' swooping down, they grabbed them and dragged them to the ground to wrestle and fight.
These Frost Giant are much larger and stronger than Wyvern, and Wyvern dragged to the ground are often torn to shreds and crushed into a pile of rags.
"Annoying flying insects!"
Baya leaped high into the air again and hooked down a Wyvern with his Dragon Bone Pickaxe.
The Frost Giant Warrior used its weight advantage to pull it to the ground, pressing it under its heavy body, and then with a single forceful pull, tore off its slender neck.
"Sizzle—"
Blood and flesh splattered onto Baya's scorched face, but he grinned gleefully, preparing to charge at other targets once more.
However, after the Wyvern launched their attack, the ground forces in Dragon Valley immediately followed up, launching their own attack while the giants and Wyvern were entangled.
"Marching!"
Dror gave the order in a loud voice.
At this moment, he was extremely excited, and his hand holding the saber trembled slightly. He had once been a member of the line infantry regiment, had followed Dolo in the volley exercise, and had also participated in the Trill Battle. Now, it was finally his turn to command the line infantry regiment.
The Hobgoblin Line Infantry marched in orderly steps, following the drumbeats of the Half-goat Human.
The Frost Giant would occasionally hurl stones, knocking down a few Hobgoblin, but the troops behind them would quickly replenish their ranks.
When the Hobgoblin army had advanced to within fifty paces of the Frost Giant, and could almost smell their stench and feel their breath, Dror finally gave the order again, just as Dolo had done before.
His heart was pounding, whether from excitement or nervousness, he couldn't tell.
"Preparation--"
The Hobgoblin, following their usual training, raised their rifles, and a constant clattering sound filled the air.
"Fire!"
The Hobgoblin pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
Gunfire whistled, and a plume of smoke rose slowly from the muzzles, filling the air with the stench of Gunsmoke.
Not far from the queue, several Frost Giant tilted one after another before crashing down, kicking up clouds of dust.
These giants are enormous and much easier to hit than ordinary targets. Often, several expanding and deforming Blossom Shell penetrate their thick skin and enter the Frost Giant's body, wantonly destroying their massive bodies and easily taking the lives of these tenacious and brave Frost Giant.
"Ah--"
"Ouch, that hurts!"
The Frost Giant was still struggling on the ground, his face contorted in a ferocious expression, maintaining a fighting stance, unable to comprehend how he could die so easily.
Baya was also stunned by the effect of the volley. He put down the Wyvern that had been ravaged beyond recognition and stared at the line column in the distance, his face extremely gloomy:
"Damn it."
"How could these little creatures kill our warrior so easily?"
It should be noted that the Everfrost Tribe only has a little over five hundred adult Frost Giant in total. Every Frost Giant Warrior is a valuable asset, and if he causes too many losses, he will be held accountable, even if he is the chieftain's younger brother.
The censorship is outrageous, I'm disgusted.
