Sacred City Battle (Part 2)
However, the allied forces outside the city were not to be outdone; they had anticipated the attack by Kassand's army.
After all, this had happened countless times before. Even the walls of the Holy City were riddled with holes. They had even climbed the walls, only to have them retaken by Kassand's soldiers.
The Arcane Legion of the Thrace Kingdom raised their staffs, and golden energy passports identical to those on the city walls suddenly rose up, blocking the attacks descending from the walls.
As descendants of the same empire, their methods are almost identical.
But even these solar shields could not stop everything. When the golden arrows fired from the giant crossbow pierced the shields, soldiers were still pierced one after another.
Death occurs constantly on this land, almost without ceasing.
"Ily, you're asking for it!"
Tirena glared angrily, flapped her wings, gripped the sword hilt tightly with both hands, and unleashed the explosive divine power within the greatsword.
"Boom!"
Two energies of the same origin collided in the sky, creating an explosion that shook the heavens.
The intense energy Shockwave spread rapidly, causing everyone present to feel a wave of heat.
"Tirena, it seems you've completely forgotten how to respect your elders!"
Ily leaped from the city wall, rapidly ascending hundreds of meters into the air, his blade gleaming in the sky.
Then, he chopped down.
A terrifying torrent of energy descended from the sky, and Ily's fury even caused a hurricane to surge.
"I have absolutely no respect for you rebels against the empire!"
Undeterred, Tirena raised her greatsword once more and unleashed a burst of divine power into the sky.
"Boom!"
Another massive explosion.
Several Angel Divine Descendant fell from mid-air and transformed into burning meteors.
Ily, using the firelight as cover, rushed forward and slashed at Tirena's pale neck.
However, Tirena flapped her wings and suddenly soared to a height of more than ten meters, once again unleashing a beam of light upon Ily below.
Ily lay down with his longsword to parry, blocking the beam of light that contained terrifying heat, and retreated while fighting.
As Titan Divine Descendant, Ily also has the ability to levitate, but he is far less agile than the Angel Divine Descendant.
Meanwhile, Tirena hovered and swirled in the air, constantly circling Ily, trying to find the Fighter's weakness.
"Marshal Ily!"
"We swear to defend the Holy City to the death!"
One by one, Titan Divine Descendant Fighter down from the city walls to support Ily, but many were pierced by the flying Light Arrow.
They fought fiercely against the Fighter of the Angel Divine Race, with angels falling from the sky and Titan Divine Descendant dying on the way to the front.
Explosions and flames were everywhere.
The Beams descended from the sky, easily melting the hard rock.
Under the devastation inflicted by both armies, deep cracks and huge craters reappeared on the ravaged land.
Ily landed on the ground and confronted Tirena from a distance, letting out a furious battle roar.
"Tirena!"
"His Majesty Aragon once said that possessing the Holy City meant possessing imperial power!"
"His Majesty Otis is the true emperor! And Wilhelm, whom you serve, is nothing but a greedy and selfish man who refuses to relinquish power!"
"His Majesty Otis is the true emperor!"
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The Titan Divine Descendant cheered and pounded the ground with their Great Hammer, causing the earth to tremble and groan with deafening roars.
This is the power of the divine nobles; they were once the pillars of the Fadlan Empire and are now the trump card in the hands of the Three Great Kingdoms.
Every Descendant possesses power comparable to that of a superhuman, while the most powerful Divine Descendant Duke can even reach the pinnacle of legend.
Upon seeing the two sides of divine beings engage in battle, the other mortal troops quickly moved aside.
That was a battle of natural disaster.
Ordinary people can hardly participate.
The Beams of light from the Angel Divine Descendant and the tremors from the Titan Divine Descendant can easily claim the lives of mortals.
This was also a major characteristic of the former Holy Fadlan military system— the Divine Descendant Legion, as the high-end force of the army, was extremely powerful, capable of fighting against the Celestials and Demons, while the mortal army at the bottom was a complete mess.
In other words, the Arcane Legion can barely be considered powerful.
This also meant that as the divine offspring gradually lost their power, the kingdoms that split off from Holy Fadlan were simply unable to control their own territories.
The Holy Fadlan Empire once expanded its territory to various planes with the help of the power of Amanata, but after losing the sun's radiance, they were unable to even protect their own homeland.
"You are misinterpreting His Majesty's words!"
"The Holy City is clearly the closest to our Thrace Kingdom, yet you Kassand shamelessly occupied it!"
"You rebels will never truly possess it!"
Tirena flapped her wings again, her slender, fair arms easily wielding the three-meter-long giant sword, creating bursts of Beams once more.
Then the Angel Divine Descendant flew in again, releasing bursts of fire.
Behind them, tens of thousands of mortal soldiers, urged on by their commander, continued their advance, slowly approaching Teotihuacan, the wagons carrying supplies making a dull thud.
Ily sneered, cleaved the pillar of light in half with his sword in one hand, and looked at the massive army of mortals behind them, laughing heartily.
Hahahaha!
"Have all the Thrace gods died out? You've sent these mortals to their deaths!"
"Wilhelm is probably about to collapse! Can such a weakling withstand our Kassand?"
This time, however, the Thrace mortal soldiers behind the Angel Divine Descendant did not merely watch the battle; instead, they lifted the cloth from the carriages and unloaded rows of black metal cannons.
"That's the Thunder Hammer of the Embers of the Burned Empire!" Tirena pointed her greatsword at the Holy City.
"Destroy them! Fire!"
"Boom!"
"Boom! Boom!"
With a thunderous roar and Gunsmoke billowing from the cannons, shells traced graceful arcs through the air before landing on the Kassand position.
However, these cannons were all outdated products of the Empire and did not use the new type of Blossom Shell, but rather solid shells.
Even so, the shells still caused considerable damage when they hit the crowd, and even the Titan Divine Descendant were caught off guard, with many being injured.
Although its power is not as great as the Arcane Legion's spells, its advantage lies in its sheer number.
It should be noted that the Thrace Kingdom purchased a total of 35,000 [Thunder Hammer-Type II] cannons, and several thousand of them were brought to this battlefield.
To make these cannons effective, Wilhelm brought in over 70,000 ordinary troops—a force that would take the the North kingdoms a tremendous amount of effort to muster, but nothing for the Thrace Kingdom.
Watching the shells rain down from the sky, Ily casually stretched out his hand—
"Bang!"
A dull thud.
Ily held the shell in his hand; it was red-hot and emitting wisps of white smoke.
"Sizzle!"
He gradually increased the pressure in his hand, crushing the shell into pieces.
"This kind of thing."
"It is very powerful, enabling mortals to possess the ability to harm the descendants of gods, and there are so many of them."
Ily stared at the dark cannon muzzles in the distance, his expression suddenly becoming serious.
It should be noted that even the Sun God Ballista on the city wall requires highly trained veterans to use skillfully, and it is expensive and not numerous.
He looked at the mortal troops and saw that they were carrying a strange short stick, constantly firing high-speed projectiles that were far more powerful than ordinary bows and arrows.
"What exactly are those weapons?"
Ily's expression grew increasingly solemn, and his gaze towards those mortals shifted from disdain to astonishment.
