Background

Yang Wudi was the patriarch of the Breaking Clan, one of the four single-attribute clans gathered in Dragon Rising City. Distrustful of Zhao Xiaotian because of his Spirit Hall background, he initially rejected Zhao Xiaotian's recruitment offer and regarded him as an enemy. 75

Zhao Xiaotian challenged Yang Wudi to a wagered duel: the winner would claim the immortal-grade Aromatic Silk Beauty, while the loser's clan would join the Tai Chi Sect. Yang Wudi accepted, confident in the “breaking” path he had cultivated to its extreme. 75 76

Despite deploying his Martial Soul True Body and eighth Soul Skill, Yang Wudi was defeated and rendered unable to fight. He honored the wager, accepted Zhao Xiaotian's mercy, and agreed to bring the Breaking Clan into the Tai Chi Sect; he also requested that Niu Gao and Bai He be allowed to submit alongside him. 76

Yang Wudi is stern, blunt, and intensely suspicious of Spirit Hall due to the Breaking Clan's past. His initial hostility toward Zhao Xiaotian arose from this history rather than personal cowardice; once defeated fairly, he kept his word and submitted. 75 76

He values strength and decisive combat. During the Tai Chi Sect's disciple recruitment, he immediately recognized the opening in Kuang Hai's defense at the same moment as Xie Heng, then intervened to prevent a potentially fatal strike. 89

Although easily displeased when others compete for disciples he favors, Yang Wudi ultimately yields to Zhao Xiaotian's authority and continues seeking other suitable candidates. 90
