Background / History

Gao Wu awakened the Yin Spirit after being severely injured in the Void Realm. The Vermilion Bird Divine Light Incantation activated under the pressure of the life-or-death crisis, using Vermilion Bird pure-yang fire to temper his soul into a crimson projection. Though it is part of his soul, it is not the soul itself; the soul remains within to guard the body while the Yin Spirit travels externally. 80

Initially, the Yin Spirit was fragile. Source Power in the Void Realm eroded its red light within minutes, and its attempts to perform martial arts lacked physical force. After Gao Wu raised the Vermilion Bird Divine Light Incantation, its density increased from smoke-like to water-like, giving him a more stable external projection. 80

The spirit's first major practical use came after it was refined alongside Death Wing and Gao Wu's sword. With the sword as a medium, the otherwise intangible Yin Spirit could exert force on reality, control the weapon remotely, and channel Li Fire Divine Light through it. Gao Wu named the blade Tianming after this breakthrough. 91

Continued refinement made the Yin Spirit Gao Wu's primary tool for reconnaissance, stealth attacks, and long-range sword combat. It later survived direct sunlight, resisted spiritual contamination and Martial Dao Divine Intent, and served as a safeguard for Gao Wu's consciousness in extreme spiritual dangers. 214 260 282

After the five Divine Mantras formed the Taiyi Battle Body, the Yin Spirit ceased to be merely an intangible projection. It became Gao Wu's Yin counterpart, capable of manifesting as a clone and sharing the physical body's power. Its eventual purification into a Yang Spirit marked the transition from soul projection to a pure-yang Spirit God. 373 396 397

Appearance

The Yin Spirit initially resembles Gao Wu exactly, but is composed of faint crimson radiance. Its appearance becomes progressively denser and more stable as it is refined. 80 85
