Background / History

The Ten Thousand Gods Cult, also called the Ten Thousand Beasts Cult or Ten Thousand Demons Cult, identifies twelve “supreme Demon Gods.” Its gods are said to originate from the Otherworld and possess mysterious powers beyond humanity's understanding. The cult is not a unified organization: its gods do not answer to one another and may fight among themselves, making “Demon Cult” a collective term for many separate sects 31 43.

After roughly twenty years of relative peace, Demon Cult activity resurges. Accelerating integration between the real world and the Otherworld raises Source Power levels, allowing Demon Gods to manifest more influence and enabling their followers to spread rapidly 43 149 298.

Demon Gods draw followers with genuine miracles, power enhancements, healing, and promises of survival or immortality. Their followers commonly believe they are trading worship and sacrifices for personal benefit; Gao Wu concludes that they have instead surrendered their souls and become subject to their god's control 137 206.

Appearance

Demon Gods have no single documented form. Their manifestations range from ritual statues and vast beast-like projections to human-shaped avatars and pure-energy spiritual bodies.

• The White Crow King is represented by a bird-headed, winged humanoid statue with blood-red eyes 31.
