Background / History
Qin Liuhe was a pioneering figure in human martial arts. By studying ancient Taoist texts and exploring Secret Realm ruins, he condensed a Spirit God and entered the Epang Palace Divine Realm, where he became trapped. His rise also helped strengthen the standing of traditional culture over the following century. 59 397
While confined within Epang Palace, Qin Liuhe retained the Tianming Jade Seal and manifested through his Spirit God. Gao Wu first encountered him through his Yin Spirit in the Hall of Ten Thousand Souls; Qin Liuhe recognized Gao’s ability, explained the nature of the Spirit God, and sent the verification phrase, “The Dragon Aspect leads,” to Qin Jiuyue. 268 269
Qin Liuhe offered the Tianming Jade Seal to Gao Wu, honestly estimating only a twenty-to-thirty-percent chance that Gao could successfully inherit it. After Gao declined, Qin Liuhe instead passed on the Nine Dragons Boundless Dao, a martial art he had created from a century of martial experience and his understanding of divine domains, artifacts, gods, and demons. 271
He revealed that an artifact within Epang Palace could prevent the Otherworld from merging with the real world. To prepare Gao for this task, he directed him to cultivate in Yingzhou, obtain Jade Paste and Golden Nectar, and develop the Mystic Dragon Dao’s spatial capabilities. 271 272
Qin Jiuyue eventually accepted the Tianming Jade Seal and offered his own body to carry both Qin Liuhe’s Spirit God and the artifact. Qin Liuhe thereafter acted through Qin Jiuyue’s body, though the arrangement left his form and spirit imperfectly matched and increasingly strained by high-level combat. 285 295 349 490
Qin Liuhe mentored Gao through the campaign against the Ice Dragon, directed the refinement of the Chixiao Sword, provided Ice Dragon blood for cultivation, and arranged the construction of Song Mingyue’s Ice Dragon Battle Armor. 310 315 316
After the Chaos Dragon King’s spirituality became entangled with his own, Qin Liuhe learned to use its power while resisting its distinct nature. When the Tianming Jade Seal formed the Space-Time Great Wall, he chose to merge his form and spirit with the Chaos Dragon King’s consciousness, stabilizing the barrier and entrusting the Alliance’s future to Gao Wu. 492 499 500
Appearance
When encountered by Gao Wu’s Yin Spirit, Qin Liuhe appeared as an old man whose bearing matched his status as the Martial Emperor. 268
- Long eyebrows and phoenix eyes. 268
- Dignified, upright features with an especially profound and majestic presence. 268
- Wore a black-and-gold robe. 268
- Resembled Qin Jiuyue in appearance and temperament, reflecting their direct blood relation. 219 268
Personality
Qin Liuhe is calm, authoritative, and exceptionally difficult to read. His explanations of cultivation, divinity, and the Spirit God are rational and precise, and he is willing to answer Gao Wu’s questions directly when doing so serves the larger plan. 269 271 272
He believes leaders must prioritize the survival of humanity over conventional judgments of good and evil. This pragmatism extends to extreme measures, including allowing Qin Jiuyue to bear his Spirit God and Tianming Jade Seal. 295 500
Despite his secrecy and willingness to use “extraordinary means,” Qin Liuhe remains committed to Huaxia’s preservation. His final decision to become part of the Space-Time Great Wall fulfills the vow he made when beginning martial arts: to protect Huaxia and all living beings. 499
