Background / History

Jiang Wei is the name used by Nu Ba in her current life. Though she initially appears as a young child, she carries ancient knowledge, recognizes the continuity of divine authorities across eras, and identifies Candle Dragon as her elder sister. She does not initially possess enough Divine Power to contact Candle Dragon. 122 123

Nu Ba is the daughter of the Yellow Emperor and has repeatedly reincarnated while searching for the Yellow Emperor and other vanished ancient leaders. King Chu Jiang later states that he pursued her through seven of those lives. 412 436

Her existence is tied to Drought Ba: Jiang Wei is Nu Ba's “good” aspect, separated from Drought Ba. Drought Ba's intervention after the Glaze Light City crisis catalyzes Jiang Wei's accumulated reincarnation power, forcing her body to mature from that of a child into an adolescent and eventually a grown woman. 278 375

Jiang Wei ultimately chooses to merge with Drought Ba in order to protect Fang Qingyu, despite the merger potentially ending her ability to reincarnate. Afterward, she confirms that she remains herself, with Jiang Wei's personality dominant and Drought Ba's memories integrated into her consciousness. 412 417

Appearance

Jiang Wei first appears as a small girl, but Drought Ba's intervention rapidly changes her into a teenage girl and later a fully developed woman. 122 278 375

  • Long crimson hair after her power recovery; earlier, her hair is described as black during her first transformation. 278 334
  • Clear ruby-red eyes. 279 417
  • A cold, detached beauty that resembles Drought Ba while retaining a softer and purer bearing. 278 279
  • Often wears white clothing in later appearances; she also uses tailored Arctic combat attire. 279 457
  • Her divine power can manifest as crimson or golden-red flames. 209 437

Personality

Jiang Wei is calm, direct, and unusually mature for her apparent age. She speaks without divine airs, openly admits uncertainty when she lacks answers, and approaches unfamiliar modern customs with practical curiosity. 122 123 248

She is deeply knowledgeable about ancient cultivation systems and often criticizes Fang Qingyu's tendency to prioritize immediate offensive strength over his foundation. Even so, she can be indecisive when the choice carries long-term consequences, as shown when she hesitates before sharing the Heart Sutra with him. 126 189

Despite her reserved demeanor, Jiang Wei is loyal and protective. She repeatedly places herself in danger to support Fang Qingyu, remains at his side during his breakthroughs, and becomes increasingly open about her feelings after regaining her mature form. 213 271 375
