Background / History
Chu Kuanglan first met Fang Qingyu in the Blessed Land alongside Lu Jiuyuan. Both had heard extensively of Fang's actions in Songdu City and enthusiastically addressed him as “Divine Fang,” though Fang asked them to simply use his name. 184
He later revealed that his father had informed him of Elder Hong Qitian's protection of Fang Qingyu: Hong had declared that any Federation force or individual acting against Fang would have their entire family wiped out. 250
Before joining Fang's circle, Chu had served as commander of the Garrison Army's Third Brigade in Glaze Light City. During the Jiang family's crisis, he publicly confronted the family's ancestor and was subsequently labeled a traitor by the Elder Council; former subordinates were deployed to capture him. Despite being hunted, he restrained his attacks against his pursuers. 260
Appearance
Chu Kuanglan is a tall, heavily built martial practitioner with a rugged, battle-hardened presence.
- Bronze-colored, heavily muscled physique.
- Bell-like eyes and rough short hair.
- Often described as resembling an iron tower or a charging battering ram.
- Favors practical combat gear; later wears crimson heavy armor on the frontline. 218 433 449
- Commonly carries a door-sized greatsword. 389
Personality
Chu is blunt, energetic, and battle-hungry. His first instinct is often to confront a problem directly, whether facing an enemy, recruiting a possible ally, or defending his comrades. Fang Qingyu considers him hot-headed and overly inclined to solve matters with his fists, but Chu can accept tactical direction when the situation demands it. 317
Beneath his rough speech and fierce demeanor, he is deeply loyal. He protects Fang, trusts his captain's judgment without hesitation, and takes responsibility for the soldiers under his command. His affection for Hua Jing reveals a notably gentle and earnest side that contrasts sharply with his battlefield image. 236 372 394
“With us brothers here, we'll definitely seal this breach tight!” 232

- Uses powerful Blood Essence bursts to enhance his physical attacks and weapon strikes. 260 433
- Earned the moniker “Mountain Shaker” after advancing into the tournament's top 64. 327

Greatswordsmanship
Chu's preferred weapon is a massive greatsword, wielded with forceful, wide-ranging techniques.
- His sweeping attacks can clear groups of Life Spirits and Corpse Puppets. 360 396
- Used a full-force saber strike to break encirclement and escape a capture operation in Glaze Light City. 260
- His greatsword swings create wide attack zones but can leave openings against agile enemies. 330

As a commander, Chu combines front-line aggression with practical battlefield management.
- Led the Dawn Legion's vanguard during the assault on King Chu Jiang's Legion outpost. 433

Investigation and Recruitment
Despite his straightforward nature, Chu can perform intelligence work and build connections when assigned a task.
