Background and History

Zhang Heming was a photographer and an active member of the Weigang Cultivation Alliance. He rented a vantage point near Lord Finger Mountain to photograph its anomaly, then shared his images with the group. He introduced himself under the online name “Celestial Master” before the title became a formal role 52 53.

After gaining water-related power, Zhang joined the alliance’s journeys into the Mountain Sea World. On one expedition, years of survival left him and his remaining companions nearly cut off from civilized life. Back in the present world, he took charge of the Cross Bloodstain Web and developed its supernatural trading platform, the Hall of the Gods 72 89 130 118 134.

A rebellion in the Hall of the Gods forced Zhang to break through to the Second Stage before his techniques were fully perfected. He defeated or cursed his pursuers, withdrew from the organization, and returned to the Mountain Sea World. During a later expedition, the demon Shu Tongtian nearly killed him. Zhang escaped by sacrificing an arm with a Substitute Death Talisman, having obtained the Core Formation technique Taiyi True Water Pill from a ruin 182 205.

Zhang returned to the present world to leave a Daoist inheritance. At Dragon Tiger Mountain, he took charge of the Zhengyi Sect’s Myriad Laws Altar and was regarded as the 66th-generation Celestial Master. He later founded the Celestial Master Sect in the Mountain Sea World. As his lifespan waned, Fang Xiu pointed him toward a Divine Path opportunity in the Great Pan Dynasty; Zhang entered the Gate of Gods and Demons to pursue it 206 293 294 298.

Zhang succeeded in becoming a Netherworld Divine God. Much later, he and Chang De reached the Upper Realm. During the Star Lord Tribulation, he supported Ji Chongming’s claim to the throne and personally bestowed the Nine Dragons Imperial Seal at the founding of the Zheng Dynasty 315 439 540 583.

Appearance

Zhang first appears as a young photographer carrying a camera and wearing black-and-white Daoist robes marked “Celestial Master Sect.” His appearance changes substantially over his long cultivation career 53 205 294.

Water techniques

• Forms and controls water, an ability first demonstrated shortly after exposure to the Kun’s blood 72.
• Teaches a basic Water Control Art at a Dao discussion and later arrives at a gathering in the form of a Water Dragon 177 179.
• Uses a Water Curse at sea against the forces pursuing him after the Hall of the Gods rebellion. Survivors lose much of their extraordinary power and suffer continuing torment 182.

Daoist arts and magical artifacts

• Cultivates Daoist and immortal methods and acquires the Taiyi True Water Pill Core Formation technique 130 205.
• Defeats the Gu cultivator Wu Min San, then pursues and seals his soul after it escapes through life-bound Gu worms 210.
• Uses the Great Evolution Divine Pearl to support a large array against Pan Xi’s Emperor God Body 380.

Divine Path

• Condenses an incense golden body upon becoming a Netherworld Divine God, but says that he cannot easily leave the Netherworld or enter the Yang World 315.
• Seeks the South Dipper Master of Fate Star Lord position by supporting Ji Chongming’s imperial destiny; he later holds the Master of Fate title 540 636.

• Great Evolution Divine Pearl — a magical artifact used to help Zhang and his companions escape pursuit, and later to form an array in battle 130 380.
