Overview

Fear Points are the Martial Arts Enhancement System's resource currency. Lu Siye receives an initial balance of 100 points when the System activates; points are earned by instilling fear or fright in ghosts and monsters, then spent to strengthen martial arts, treasures, weapons, and other eligible items 2.

The System reports gains immediately, often identifying the frightened target and the number of points generated. Yield is not fixed: it depends on the target and intensity of its fear 10 17 41.

Acquisition

Fear Inducement

Fear Points are generated when ghosts or monsters become frightened of Lu Siye.

• The Takeout Ghost yields 75 points after being overwhelmed by the dragon-and-tiger might in Lu Siye's eyes 2.
• The Kidney-Harvesting Ghost yields 36 points when it realizes Lu Siye is unharmed, then 88 points while begging for mercy 10.
• Ghost Driver Lu Qi yields 76 points when his deception is exposed and 56 more when Lu Siye restrains him 11.
• The Twin Ghost Infants yield 156 points after Lu Siye's thrown Blazing Blood Blade catches them off guard 29.
• Black Abyss produces 999 points after realizing that Lu Siye has entered the Night Wanderer Envoy realm and cannot be confronted directly 41.

Sustained Terror

Lu Siye can repeatedly generate Fear Points by preventing a terrified ghost from escaping and renewing its fear.

• He confines Mirror Ghost Wu Jianyuan and periodically injects Blood Essence into the mirror whenever the ghost stops producing points, making it believe it is about to be destroyed 18.
• Wu Jianyuan ultimately contributes more than 2,000 points before his death, leading Lu Siye to compare him to a “ghost-shaped oil well” 18.
• Fang Lanyue's extreme timidity makes her a particularly productive source: she provides more than 1,700 points within several minutes after Lu Siye threatens her with execution 35.
• Storing Fang Lanyue's Spirit Nether Jade Disc inside the System space repeatedly frightens her and generates further points 36 47.

Defeated Ghosts

A ghost's death may also generate Fear Points.

Uses and Enhancement Costs

Fear Points are consumed by the System's enhancement function. Higher-quality items and later upgrades generally require substantially greater expenditure 15 19.

Limitations

• The System cannot enhance every technique. Lu Siye's introductory Body Tempering Art cannot be reinforced 8.
• Insufficient Fear Points prevent an enhancement from proceeding; Lu Siye's first attempt to unlock the fourth layer of the Dragon Elephant Prajna Skill fails while he is over 500 points short 28.
• The System's first enhancement of the fruit knife requires either 100 Fear Points or the beginner Free Enhancement Card after Lu Siye has spent 10 points on the initial upgrade 2.
• Lu Siye treats Fear Points as scarce capital, sometimes postponing weapon or technique upgrades to reserve points for cultivation breakthroughs 15 36.

Distinction from Town Demon Suppression Division Points

Fear Points are separate from the Town Demon Suppression Division's Points currency.

• Fear Points are managed by Lu Siye's System and are spent on System enhancements 2.
• Town Demon Suppression Division Points are earned through membership and missions, then spent through the Town Watch APP shop 9.
• For example, Lu Siye receives 136 Town Demon Suppression Division Points after joining and completing the Takeout Ghost case; he later spends 108 of those points on the Blazing Blood Blade and Soul Severing Blade Technique 9 12.
