The New Frontier was already receiving returnees by the time Tao Yu sold a complete set of skills recovered there. New Frontier-origin skills were valuable because they could be resold to Inner City buyers with compatible Talents and resources 31.

Its mission system encouraged Pioneers to survey Abyss shards, catalogue organisms, and report special events. Rewards scaled with the usefulness of submitted intelligence, while duplicate information still received partial compensation 44.

The settlement developed around a military base, with Pioneers serving as its central force and native residents supporting its expansion. Several satellite strongholds emerged nearby, with Las Vegas becoming the most significant due to its existing facilities and improved power supply after partial repairs to Hoover Dam 273.

Within its first half-year of development, the New Frontier recovered a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Abyssal rule changes had rendered normal nuclear reactions inert, but personnel and equipment from the Avatar world later enabled the carrier to operate using weapons-grade nuclear material from its original nuclear weapons 585.

By the later stages of its development, the New Frontier had become profitable enough to attract suppliers, material dealers, chefs, and other industries. The completion of a teleportation device further increased commercial and personnel traffic 666.

Political instability in Starfall City later disrupted the frontier. The return of the Star Family, Sun Sheng's flight, the capture of important Sun Family members, and the disappearance of Old Ancestor Styx left local Pioneers uncertain about their future; some returned from the Real World as the teleportation device was temporarily closed 909.

Population

The base population expanded to include Korean arrivals, local American survivors, and residents from Martial World fragments 423.

Pioneers remain responsible for collecting Wish Power and conducting dangerous exploration, while native residents perform supporting, industrial, and settlement roles 273 884. Las Vegas in particular became a viable place for natives to settle rather than remain crowded around the military base 273.

• Starfall City — The city associated with this New Frontier; later political changes in the city directly destabilized the settlement 909.
• Sun Family — Invested heavily in the frontier and maintained Disaster-class protection during its growth period 666.
• Beast Taming Noble Families — Established Alien farms, capybara host breeding, and experimental fields; their influence became especially strong in Las Vegas 273.
• Dada Company — A local company drawn into conflict with the Beast Taming Noble Family and its allies after the disappearance and death of Pei Li 274.
• Morning Sun Society — Re-established a foothold in the New Frontier, where Lin Chao's reputation helped stabilize disputes among competing groups 593.

Major Conflicts

Beast Taming Noble Family–Dada Company confrontation

The Beast Taming Noble Family convened allied factions after Pei Li, described as a pillar of the New Frontier, was killed following an attempted ambush. The family offered half of its aquaculture shares as a bounty for an apology from Dada Company's major shareholder, the return of Pei Li's body, and an end to hostilities 274.

Starfall City political upheaval

The New Frontier's earlier growth depended on Sun Family investment and influence. When the Star Family returned to power in Starfall City, the Sun Family's collapse created widespread anxiety among Pioneers, interrupted transport links, and threatened the settlement's stability 909.

Other New Frontiers

“New Frontier” is also used for comparable Pioneer zones operated by other cities. Confirmed examples include frontiers associated with Dilong City, Tianlong City, Extreme Ice City, and other regions 318 824.

Information exchanged with other frontiers indicated that many such zones were worlds being consumed by the Abyss. Their local defenders may resemble Pioneers, though Earth-based groups identify themselves as “Reincarnators” instead 318.
