Background

Klein serves as a Night Watcher in Tingen alongside Leonard under Captain Dunn. While investigating Tao Yu’s connection to the Assassin organization, he and Leonard temporarily guard Tao Yu and consider recruiting him as an informant. 448

When Mei Gao'ou'si arrives carrying an Evil God's offspring, Klein sends Leonard and Tao Yu to warn Dunn and the Mechanical Heart while he remains behind. He expends all of his spirituality through a protective amulet to strike her with sunlight, but is killed after buying time for reinforcements. 449

Klein later returns to life, but adopts the detective identity Sherlock because “Klein is dead.” In Backlund, he takes commissions, investigates extraordinary incidents, and gradually deepens his cooperation with Tao Yu. 451 453 454

Tarot Club

As The Fool, Klein presides over a gathering held in a gray-mist palace above an ancient bronze table. The setting shields participants from external observation and allows dangerous names and knowledge to be discussed safely. 438 440 458

He draws Tao Yu into the gathering, accepts him under the codename Mr. Destiny, and allows him to participate in the club’s exchanges. Klein later enters the same meetings openly through his separate identity, The World. 440 462
