The Birth of the Primordial World

With that, Great God Pangu raised the Sky-Opening Axe and cleaved down at chaos. In an instant, chaos began to split apart.

Clear Qi rose, while Turbid Qi sank.

Then the two Qis began closing together again. Seeing this, Pangu swung his axe again and again without pause, continuously hewing at chaos.

Clear Qi kept rising, and Turbid Qi kept sinking.

After a full forty-nine Measure Tribulations, Pangu was already utterly exhausted. Even battling the Chaos Demon Gods had not worn him out this much.

He could no longer swing his axe. At this moment, Clear Qi and Turbid Qi began drawing back together. Pangu directly raised both hands to brace the Clear Qi and planted his feet upon the Turbid Qi, preventing them from merging again.

Countless years passed just like this.

Then, the Eye of the Great Dao suddenly appeared within chaos, and bolt after bolt of Great Dao Divine Lightning struck Pangu and the Chaos Supreme Treasures.

Zhou Xiaoqin could do nothing as he watched the scene before him. He anxiously looked at Pangu, filled with worry.

"Great God Pangu..."

"No need to say more. I understand. The Great Dao has its own ordained fate; Supreme Origins beneath the Great Dao were never meant to give birth to primordial spirits.

"The Great Dao is utterly impartial. I embody Supreme Creation, yet Supreme Creation cannot survive. This tribulation was mine to bear, so do not grieve for me.

"I am very happy to see a world appear once more, and just as happy to have met you."

Zhou Xiaoqin was full of confusion. What about himself, then? Having fused with a wisp of Supreme Destiny, did that make him a primordial spirit born from the Supreme Origin of destiny? Could he not survive either, or did he too have a mission of his own?

The Great Dao was utterly impartial. What price would he have to pay?

Before he could think any further, Pangu's body began to crack after being repeatedly struck by Great Dao Divine Lightning, and in the end, he fell.

His eyes began transforming into the sun and moon, his neck bone into Zhou Mountain, his navel into the Blood Sea, and the rest of his body into the land. The Primordial World had finally appeared.

Clear Qi no longer sank, instead stabilizing high in the sky, while Turbid Qi settled beneath the earth.

The origin of the Star Demon God combined with Pangu's Dao Body to become the Zhou Tian Stars, while the origins of the other Chaos Demon Gods combined with Pangu's Dao Body and all merged into the Primordial World.

The Primordial World expanded once more; the heavens grew higher, and the seas broader.

"The heaven and earth I created shall be named the Primordial World!"

Supreme Destiny suddenly appeared, and Great Dao Divine Lightning instantly struck Supreme Destiny, shattering off a fragment.

That fragment split into four pieces. The largest piece evolved into the Primordial Heavenly Dao and fled into the World Origin of the Primordial World.

Another piece transformed into countless wisps of Golden Light and scattered throughout chaos.

Yet another was struck by divine lightning into the newly torn-open chaos, its whereabouts unknown.

The final piece was drawn away by a River of Time and Space, then vanished into chaos.

Pangu's exhausted Primordial Spirit began to shatter, while the Eye of the Great Dao began bestowing countless measures of Sky-Opening Merit.

Countless streams of Mysterious Yellow Qi and Primordial Qi rose between heaven and earth.

A wisp of Mysterious Yellow Qi combined with ten percent of the Sky-Opening Merit, transforming into the Postnatal Merit Supreme Treasure, the Heaven and Earth Exquisite Pagoda;

A wisp of Primordial Qi combined with ten percent of the Sky-Opening Merit, transforming into the Postnatal Merit Supreme Treasure, the Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler.

Three wisps of Clear Qi combined with a trace of Pangu's Primordial Spirit, swept up thirty percent of the Sky-Opening Merit and the Heaven and Earth Exquisite Pagoda, and flew toward the Primordial Land.

There had originally been Nine Sky-Opening Energies; the remaining six flew toward the newly born Primordial Starry Sky.

The Sky-Opening Axe directly shattered, transforming into the Three Sky-Opening Treasures.

The Innate Supreme Treasures—the Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, and Chaos Bell—flew into the Primordial World to suppress the four great origins of the Primordial Land.

The Jade Disc of Creation and the Chaos Green Lotus began to crack, then slowly shattered. The Jade Disc of Creation scattered into countless Fragments that flew in every direction.

Five Lotus Seeds flew out of the Chaos Green Lotus: one mature green Lotus Seed, which would grow into the Twenty-Four Petaled Jade Green Lotus of Creation. (The Jade Green Lotus of Creation inherited the greatest share of the Chaos Green Lotus's destiny.)

Of the four half-ripe Lotus Seeds of different colors, one was golden and would grow into the Twelve-grade Golden Lotus of Merit.

One black seed grew into the World-Destroying Black Lotus, also known as the Black Water Black Lotus.

One pale-red seed absorbed countless Karmic Sins and grew into the Karma Fire Red Lotus.

The final yellow Lotus Seed crashed directly into the origin of the World-Purifying Demon God and should have become the World-Purifying White Lotus.

Without the World-Purifying origin, it should have been the Earth Yellow Lotus. (Just the author's own take—everyone, don't argue too fiercely. Just read and enjoy.)

Five petals evolved into the Five Directions Innate Banners, each a Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure with forty-eight restrictions.

The eastern Azure Lotus Treasure Banner and the western Western Plain Cloud Boundary Banner.

The central Central Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner.

The southern Earth-Leaving Flame Light Banner and the northern Northern Xuanyuan Water Control Banner.

The entire Lotus Throne began to disintegrate. Its roots and stems transformed into two parts: one absorbed part of the origin of the Qiankun Demon God and evolved into the Innate Supreme Treasure Qiankun Cauldron;

the other fused with part of the origin of the Slaughter Demon God and later transformed into the Innate Supreme Treasure God-Slaying Spear.

(Many people are uncertain whether the God-Slaying Spear is an Innate Supreme Treasure or a Heavenly Dao Exotic Treasure. Here, the author chooses Innate Supreme Treasure.

There are no Heavenly Dao Exotic Treasures in the Primordial World. The Heavenly Dao is the manifestation of a fragment of Supreme Destiny, and it also represents Supreme Destiny.

None had fully come into being yet, so how could their origins have evolved into Heavenly Dao Exotic Treasures? If there were any, it would only have been after Heavenly Dao Emergence, so the timeline does not match.)

Chaos Supreme Treasures: the Sky-Opening Axe, Chaos Green Lotus, Jade Disc of Creation, World-Destroying Millstone, and Chaos Pearl, all possessed 55 Chaos Restrictions.

Chaos Exotic Treasures: the Dao Coffin of Time and Space, Guixu Divine Palace, and Great Dao Prison Suppression Stele, with 54 Chaos Restrictions. (Everyone, guess where the latter two came from. You can definitely guess one of them.)

Chaos Spiritual Treasures: the Companion Spiritual Treasures of the various Chaos Demon Gods, along with Spiritual Treasures nurtured within chaos, possessing 50 to 53 Chaos Restrictions.

Innate Supreme Treasures: the Three Sky-Opening Treasures, Heaven and Earth Chessboard, Six Paths Reincarnation Disc, Qiankun Cauldron, Mysterious Yellow Mirror, God-Slaying Spear, Pangu Hall, Heaven-Suppressing Coffin, and so on.

(Excluding the Three Sky-Opening Treasures, the Prehistoric Era had nine Innate Supreme Treasures; together, they made twelve, symbolizing perfection.) 49 Innate Restrictions.

Innate Spiritual Treasures: 0–12 Innate Restrictions, Low-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures.

13–24, Mid-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures.

25–36, High-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures.

37–48, Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures. (Among them, Innate Spiritual Treasures with 48 restrictions were few; most of the Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures formed from the shattered Chaos Green Lotus had 48 restrictions.)

Then there were Postnatal Spirit Treasures and supreme treasures. They were the same as Innate ones, except they lacked the innate indestructible spiritual radiance, could not repair themselves, and could not be used to comprehend laws.

Spiritual Roots were further divided into Chaos Spiritual Roots, those nurtured within chaos or the true bodies of Chaos Demon Gods.

The Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Roots in the Prehistoric Era:

Green Lotus of Creation (a special existence; because the Heavenly Dao would not permit it to be suppressed, it could not fully mature. It was later split apart into three Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures.

It itself should have been a Chaos Spiritual Treasure with 50 Chaos Restrictions and should not be counted among Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Roots.)

Gourd Vine (suppressed by the Heavenly Dao and unable to survive.)

Huangzhong Plum (the remaining origin of a Chaos Spiritual Root; later caught up in the Immortal-Demon War on Penglai Island, its effects diminished greatly.)

Innate Ren Water Flat Peach (after its origin was damaged, Hongjun enlightened it into the many flat peach trees of the Heavenly Court.)

Ginseng Fruit Tree (part of its origin was damaged in the Dao-Demon War; afterward, it could only blossom once every three thousand years.)

Five-Needle Pine (struck into the chaotic currents during the Dao-Demon War, its whereabouts unknown.)

Bodhi Tree (not Zhunti's, mind you), Immortal Apricot (part of its origin was damaged in the war of the Three Tribes, causing it to fall to High-grade; otherwise, how could a single Lei Zhenzi possibly digest the fruit of a Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Root?)

Fusang Wood (Di Jun ravaged it too much, and the Witch-Demon War consumed too much of the Solar Star's origin.)

Laurel Tree (in the same predicament as Fusang Wood; it was also plotted against by Changxi, while Wu Gang felled the laurel, constantly consuming the Lunar Star's origin.)

Bitter Bamboo (refined into the Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, Six Roots Pure Bamboo).

Looking at these Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Roots, not a single one met a good end. Either they were too heaven-defying and were suppressed by the Heavenly Dao, or they were ravaged miserably by those heaven-and-earth demon gods or Innate Divine Beings.

There were still a certain number of High-Grade Innate Spiritual Roots in the Prehistoric Era; this was Great God Pangu's gift to the Prehistoric Era.

Pangu truly loved the Prehistoric Era deeply. What a pity—such excellent foundations, how could other worlds compare? Yet in the end, they were exhausted by the gods and buddhas filling the skies.

The Chaos Green Lotus split apart and evolved into far too many Innate Spiritual Treasures, along with Innate Spiritual Treasures transformed from the Companion Spiritual Treasures of Chaos Demon Gods.

The Innate Spiritual Treasures in the Prehistoric Era originally had a fixed number: the Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures matched the Number of Heavenly Spirits, totaling 36.

The High-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures matched the Number of Earthly Fiends, totaling 72; the Mid-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures matched the Number of Heavenly Perfection, totaling 365.

The Low-grade Innate Spiritual Treasures matched the Number of Yuanhui, totaling 129,600. Yet now, they far exceeded that number; the foundations of the Prehistoric Era had already far surpassed those of the newly opened Chaos Dao Realm.

(World levels: worlds as numerous as Ganges sands—Small World—Great World—Lesser Thousand World—Middle Thousand World—Greater Thousand World—Chaos Dao Realm—Eternal True Realm.)

Among Chaos Dao Realms, there was also a special kind of world: the Origin Dao Realm.

When the Heavenly Dao, Earthly Dao, and Human Dao all emerged, it became an Origin Dao Realm (the Prehistoric Era was the only one). Other worlds possessed only world-origin consciousness.

The remaining twelve drops of Pangu's Blood Essence swept away twenty percent of the Sky-Opening Merit and flew toward Zhou Mountain.

Just as Zhou Xiaoqin gazed absentmindedly at the Prehistoric Era, the Green Lotus Seed split off a small portion of its origin and cast it toward Zhou Mountain, while the seed itself flew straight toward Zhou Xiaoqin and merged into his Indestructible Primordial Spirit.

Xuan Qing, Xuan Qing—this Daoist title truly had inherited a portion of the Chaos Green Lotus's legacy. Perhaps Great God Pangu had seen through his thoughts and deliberately given it to him.

All the other Spiritual Treasures flew into the Prehistoric Era and vanished without a trace, waiting for other living beings, or to become the Companion Spiritual Treasures of living beings.

Seeing this, Zhou Xiaoqin could not help feeling greatly regretful. So many Spiritual Treasures, yet not a single one was fated with him—they did not think much of him.

But that was not the case. The Dao Coffin of Time and Space had isolated his aura; otherwise, it would not have been only the Green Lotus Seed that favored him. This too was one of Great God Pangu's measures.

The Dao Coffin of Time and Space suddenly emitted a dazzling silver-gray radiance, swept up a fragment of chaos, and carried him into the Prehistoric Era.

At that moment, the Dao Coffin of Time and Space lifted the Great Dao's suppression and Zhou Mountain's suppression over the Prehistoric Era.

Countless raging origins of earth, water, wind, and fire began surging toward Zhou Xiaoqin, and he passed out on the spot.

The last thought he sent out before losing consciousness was—
