Background / History

Di Jun and his younger brother Tai Yi are Innate Divine Beings born from the Solar Star. Upon arriving in the Primordial Land, they meet Bai Ze, who recognizes them as exceptionally early-born beings favored by Heavenly Dao Destiny. 146

After discovering the Heavenly Court, Di Jun claims it as the Demon Clan's Heavenly Court and leads its high-ranking members through the South Heaven Gate. 175 With Fuxi handling its affairs, Di Jun establishes the Demon Clan, becomes its Demon Emperor, and declares an intention to protect all beings and propagate Hongjun's Great Dao. 176 177

His rule initially combines political outreach with calculated restraint. He invites great powers to Heavenly Court banquets, seeks Fuxi's counsel, and releases Zhunti and Jieyin after recovering stolen Spiritual Roots rather than create lasting enemies. 177 183 His public claims of guiding all beings are met with skepticism by Nuwa and the Three Pure Ones, who regard his rhetoric as self-serving. 189

Di Jun expands aggressively after the Heavenly Court's rise. He kills Zi Wei and seizes the Ziwei Star, then incorporates Kunpeng and the North Sea Demon Clan through pressure, propaganda, and force. 216 219 He also eliminates East King Duke, though the Dragon Head Staff is reclaimed by Hongjun afterward. 226

Fuxi's study of Di Jun's River Diagram and Luo Script produces the Zhou Tian Stars Great Formation, becoming the Heavenly Court's decisive military asset. 213 257 Di Jun secures Xi He's Lunar Star origin to complete the formation and formalizes their political and personal union through a grand Heavenly Marriage. 257 259 261

Over time, Di Jun becomes increasingly consumed by Destiny, power, and the Demon Clan's survival. He suppresses Fuxi's standing in the Heavenly Court, seeks to prove the Dao through Destiny, and admits to Bai Ze that he considers such measures unavoidable. 329 330 His deterioration alienates Fuxi, who concludes that power has caused Di Jun to forget his original intentions. 379

Following the deaths of nine of his Golden Crow sons at Houyi's hands, Di Jun nearly breaks the Saints' decree in pursuit of vengeance. He instead challenges Di Jiang to a one-on-one battle, partly intending to burden the Witch Clan with karma; Di Jiang recognizes the scheme and withdraws. 375 376 Di Jun later authorizes the slaughter of humans to refine a weapon capable of damaging Witch Clan bodies, turning the Heavenly Court's Golden Pillar of Destiny into a Pillar of Karma. 432 441

Though believed dead after the Witch-Demon War, Di Jun survives as a True Spirit in the Heavenly Demon Realm. Luohu secretly supports his pursuit of the Demonic Path, and Di Jun ultimately proves the Dao in the Outer Heavens. 475 612 Having returned as a Saint, he no longer seeks to reclaim the Heavenly Court; instead, he seeks his family and the surviving ancient demons. 612 614

Di Jun's return also brings him into renewed conflict with Zhunti and the other Saints. Nuwa exacts retribution for the Human Race's suffering, after which Di Jun reforms without harboring resentment and is informed by Han Xi that he must not interfere with the affairs or future revival of the Demon Clan. 615 616 617 He subsequently finds the revived Bo Huang at the Nether Sun and reunites with Xi He at the Nether Moon, where she maintains the Nether Moon's operation. 617 618

During Heaven and Earth's later transformation, the Solar Star's Origin resonates with Di Jun across the Outer Heavens and rapidly advances him to the tenth level of the Saint realm. 787

Personality

Di Jun is ambitious, politically adept, and deeply focused on consolidating the Demon Clan. He can show patience when it serves his interests, as seen when he avoids making enemies of Zhunti and Jieyin, and he relies extensively on Fuxi, Bai Ze, and Tai Yi in major decisions. 177 183 252

He is also highly possessive of authority and Destiny. After the Heavenly Court's victories, he undermines Fuxi, coerces Kunpeng into submission, and pursues increasingly ruthless strategies to ensure the Demon Clan's supremacy. 219 329 432 His public benevolence is repeatedly doubted by Nuwa, Laozi, Yuanshi, and others. 189

Di Jun's attachment to his family is genuine but can overwhelm his judgment. He imprisons the Ten Golden Crows after their repeated misconduct, grieves intensely after their deaths, and later abandons his former pursuit of power in favor of reuniting with Xi He, Lu Ya, and the Demon Clan. 367 375 612 618

After his death and rebirth, Di Jun becomes markedly more restrained and reflective. He recognizes that his fixation on Heavenly Court authority led him astray, accepts the consequences imposed upon him, and places the safety of his family above restoring his former political power. 612 617 618
