Background / History

Origin

When Pangu created the Primordial World, Supreme Destiny was struck by Great Dao Divine Lightning and shattered into four pieces. The largest fragment became the Primordial Heavenly Dao and fled into the World's Origin. 4

Before its formal emergence, the Heavenly Dao existed primarily as an aggregate of rules. Observing that the Fierce Beasts' destruction and repeated conflicts damaged the earth veins and hindered the world's evolution, it sought to control the highest powers of the Primordial World through Hongjun. It transmitted its intent to Hongjun, cut off his Great Luo Dao Seed path, and indirectly prompted the creation of the Severing the Three Corpses method. 6

Emergence and Governance

The Heavenly Dao announced its arrival through a Law Rainbow, allowing living beings to comprehend its laws before declaring that the Great Dao would retreat. 82 After the Great Dao and Heavenly Dao Wheels manifested together, the Great Dao departed and the Heavenly Dao began governing the Prehistoric Era. 83

Its rule brought karmic and fateful restraints upon living beings. Zenith Heaven Golden Immortals gained the ability to deduce Heavenly Mechanism, but they also lost direct access to the Great Dao's aura and could no longer condense Dao Seeds through the former path. 83

The Heavenly Dao established the River of Heavenly Dao as the place where a Great Luo's Dao Fruit could be entrusted. Its laws were easier for ordinary beings to perceive than Great Dao Laws, accelerating cultivation while narrowing the path toward transcendence. 84

Relations with Xuan Qing and the Primordial World

Because Xuan Qing's origin also contained a fragment of Supreme Destiny, the Heavenly Dao regarded him as closely related to itself and communicated with him directly through the Law of Destiny. It warned him not to interfere with gestating Innate Divine Beings or seize their destined Spiritual Treasures. 85

Despite this warning, it bestowed a major gift upon Azure Nether Sea Domain: new earth veins, abundant Innate Spiritual Qi, a world barrier capable of blocking Chaos Qi, and an additional route into Chaos. 85

The Heavenly Dao repeatedly relied on Xuan Qing's assistance and judgment. It provided him with the location of the Heavenly Demon Realm when asked, yet failed to detect Luohu's secret collaboration with Chaos Demon Gods. 130 It also allowed Hongjun's karma to be eliminated as compensation for taking his Spiritual Treasure, hoping Hongjun would attain his fruit status sooner. 131

Balance, Demonic Path, and Resistance

After Luohu established the Demonic Path, the Heavenly Dao accepted it as part of its order. Luohu merged with the Heavenly Dao Origin, becoming an immortal component of the Demonic Path and a future source of inner-demon trials for living beings. 124

The Heavenly Dao's pursuit of order often placed it at odds with independent cultivators. Xuan Qing openly condemned it for restricting the paths of all living beings through the Severing the Three Corpses system. 198 When its schemes endangered Han Xi and threatened Zhou Mountain, it backed down after Xuan Qing invoked Pangu's possible intervention, then began examining flaws in its own rules. 459

It later unleashed Purple Heaven Divine Thunder against Tongtian when he attempted to reclaim his True Spirit and Dao Fruit from the Heavenly Dao Origin Space. Xuan Qing blocked the thunder and negotiated for Tongtian's survival. 553

Unification of the Three Daos

As the Primordial World developed, the Heavenly Dao acknowledged that it could eventually break free from its role as a world-governing Dao. It planned to merge with myriad worlds and become the spirit of Supreme Destiny's origin. 575

When the Human Dao reached perfection, it merged with the Heavenly and Earthly Daos. The Heavenly Dao bestowed the Supreme Destiny Law, governing the Destiny/Fortune of all spirits and epochal change. 782 The merger ended the separation of the Heavenly Dao Origin and Earthly Dao Origin; the former Heavenly Dao then emerged as the human Xuan Ming, Primordial Spirit of Supreme Destiny. 783

Appearance

Before becoming Xuan Ming, the Heavenly Dao had no described fixed corporeal form. Its presence was most often expressed through world-shaking law phenomena and the Eye of the Heavenly Dao. 82 85

Its decisions prioritize the Primordial World's stability, preservation of World Origin, and controlled evolution. This leads it to limit uncontrolled cultivation, regulate karma, cultivate Saints, and restrain beings it considers threats to the world's development. 6 98

Despite its stated impartiality, the Heavenly Dao gradually displays incomplete judgment and developing self-awareness. It fails to perceive Luohu's hidden schemes, fears Pangu's possible intervention, and eventually expresses a desire to break free from its own Heavenly Dao state. 130 459 575
