Background / History

Yang Mei was one of the Chaos Demon Gods and possessed the Space Dao. His true body was the Space Willow, a Chaos Spiritual Root. During Pangu’s Heaven-Opening War, more than half of his body was severed, but his Indestructible Primordial Spirit survived. A portion of his Origin eventually fell into the Prehistoric Era and nurtured a new life, allowing him to be reborn there 3 59.

Although Pangu had nearly destroyed him, Yang Mei did not regard Pangu with personal hatred. He considered the Heaven-Opening Tribulation a consequence of the Great Dao’s rules and believed that the Demon Gods had fought for the Dao rather than being wronged by Pangu alone 59.

After his rebirth, Yang Mei lived in seclusion in a concealed Dao Field on an island in the South Sea. He was indifferent to the affairs of the Prehistoric Era and felt deeply lonely because almost none of the beings he had known in Chaos remained 59 60.

His reunion with Xuan Qing changed his outlook. Xuan Qing encouraged him to abandon the distance of his former identity, integrate into the Prehistoric Era, and seek the Dao from a more humble starting point. Yang Mei accepted Xuan Qing as a friend and became more willing to interact with other cultivators 59.

Yang Mei is naturally easygoing but socially inexperienced. His long isolation left him indifferent and lonely, and he initially kept his Dao Field completely hidden to avoid visitors. After befriending Xuan Qing, he deliberately removed part of its concealment so that others could find him more easily 59 60.

He is clear-sighted about the Great Dao and does not cling to resentment toward Pangu. He also despises Karma’s practice of manipulating the karma of countless beings to provoke slaughter for cultivation 3 59.

Despite being an ancient Chaos Demon God, Yang Mei is modest and composed. When others mistake the restoration of his Hunyuan Wuji strength for a breakthrough, he immediately corrects them and attributes his power to recovering his former strength rather than achieving something new 1284.
