This meant that these people had been killed from the very beginning in a decapitation strike by enemies who had infiltrated the Tower. That was also the fundamental reason the situation within the Tower had spiraled out of control so quickly.

The miners' resistance outside was utterly insignificant, but when large numbers of internal administrators were killed simultaneously as well, chaos within the Tower became inevitable.

But none of that mattered. Akalin had never truly relied on the low-ranking overseers and garrison troops. His confidence came from his own private guard.

A private force of five hundred men, every one of them equipped with Force-Feedback Power Armor. The Lord of the High Tower had always pursued quality over quantity. The Power Armor alone for this force had cost half his fortune, and with all the accompanying weapons and equipment added in, even thinking about the expense now made his heart ache.

But it had all been worth it. It was precisely because of this private force that he had secured his position as clan head and severed the grasping hands of the other Kiavahr families that dared reach for the Tower.

A crisp round of applause suddenly sounded from the doorway.

"As expected of the Lord of the High Tower. The armed forces under your command are truly formidable. Mere miner slaves are naturally beneath notice, but I have a question I would like to ask Lord Akalin." Korax's figure appeared abruptly inside the room guarded tightly by Akalin's private soldiers.

Neither the well-equipped guards nor Akalin himself had noticed how he had appeared. The tall, handsome man seemed to have materialized out of thin air.

"These miners were organized by you, weren't they? May I ask who you are?" Akalin asked the man who had suddenly appeared before him.
