Background / History

Visions of the shattered Primordial Era show Gong Gong at the ruins of Mount Buzhou in a colossal true-form phantom: blue-scaled, human-bodied, and snake-tailed. Wounded and surrounded by rampaging laws of water, he roars amid the flood unleashed after the heavenly pillar's collapse. His tragedy parallels Tongtian's loss of his Daoist lineage; both are described as remnants and failures of the old era. 29

Gong Gong later appears in Lin Fan's bathroom with his memories disordered, divine power suppressed, and overwhelming hunger. Nüwa recognizes him as “Elder Brother Gong Gong,” while Tongtian identifies the remaining origin of water and fighting spirit in him.
