Background and History

The Buddha appeared briefly beneath the Bodhi Tree and expounded the fundamental principles of Buddhism, including the Four Noble Truths, before vanishing from the world 101. The Western Heaven Buddha Kingdom later grew around the tree, which remained the center of its ancestral land 489.

In the Primordial Era, the Buddha used his dream and the Bodhi Tree to connect past and future. Through that connection, Qi WuHuo conveyed knowledge of the Final Tribulation to the Primordial Heavenly King 652 653. The Heavenly King then entrusted the Buddha with his dispersed cultivation, asking him to pass it to the future cultivator who would face the tribulation. The Buddha preserved the power as a lotus flower 653.

The Buddha explained his teachings to his disciples, then entered nirvana beneath the Bodhi Tree. He made his body a “boat” so his divine sense and memories could carry the message across time 653. When Qi WuHuo later met him, the Buddha passed on the lotus and departed, leaving a mature Bodhi fruit behind 654. The fruit was later given to Qi WuHuo by Ran Deng and transformed into a boy 671.

Appearance

When Qi WuHuo meets him after the memories of the past disperse, the Buddha appears as a gentle-gazed young man sitting cross-legged 654.

• His residual presence is also seen beneath the Bodhi Tree as a seated figure in the shadows 623.
• Pāpīyas assumes a similar appearance beneath the tree; that deceptive figure is not the Buddha 652.

Abilities and Legacy

Bridge Across Time

• The Buddha's dream and the Bodhi Tree connect past and future, allowing Qi WuHuo to deliver knowledge of the Final Tribulation to the Primordial Heavenly King 653.
• Maintaining that connection required the Buddha to enter nirvana; his remaining divine sense and memories served as the means of passage 653 654.

The Entrusted Lotus

• The Buddha preserved the Primordial Heavenly King's dispersed cultivation and Dao rhythm in a lotus flower for Qi WuHuo 653.
• He handed the lotus to Qi WuHuo when they met and then departed 654.

Relationships

• Qi WuHuo — the future cultivator whom the Buddha ferried into the past and to whom he delivered the entrusted lotus 653 654.
• Primordial Heavenly King — entrusted his dispersed cultivation to the Buddha for delivery to Qi WuHuo 653.
