Background / History

During the Second Kalpa, Nuwa created humanity by combining traits of the primordial beings. The resulting humans possessed primordial spirit, exceptional compatibility with Qi, and potential surpassing naturally evolved races. She taught her children practical arts such as clothing and shelter, while Fuxi taught them music and ways to avoid calamity. 243 407 417

Taiyi later erased Nuwa from existence rather than merely killing her. Her Great Dao ceased to exist, her memory was severed, and even the gods and humans gradually forgot her. Her apparent death became a turning point between the First and Second Kalpas, while Fuxi's grief and fury shaped much of the subsequent ancient turmoil. 243 332 407 604

Although her spirit and soul were lost or imprisoned, Nuwa's divine body remained incorruptible within the Sea of Blood. Her body unconsciously radiated power for several kalpas, though the Sea of Blood suppressed most of its influence. 441 442

Qi WuHuo first sensed Nuwa while undergoing erasure, hearing her voice through the imprint she left in humanity's bloodline. He later repeatedly entered the Taiyi Realm to stabilize and rescue her, using Human Dao Destiny, the Human Emperor Seal, and the Map of Mountains and Rivers. 384 412 505

After escaping the Taiyi Realm, Nuwa's divine sense could appear through an avatar. Her true soul ultimately returned to her preserved body in the Sea of Blood, completing her restoration. 505 632 635

Appearance

Nuwa's true form has a human upper body and a serpent tail below the waist. Her body remained untouched by the passage of several kalpas, appearing as though she were simply in a deep sleep. 441 632

  • Long black hair, described as falling to her waist or shoulders. 441 506 635
  • Serene, gentle expression and clear eyes. 441 635
  • Human-headed, snake-bodied true form. 441 635
  • Her avatar can alter its clothing and appearance; she once adopted a pure-white dress and a flower-like hair ornament after studying a white flower. 506
  • Despite her gentleness toward humanity, her restored bearing can reveal the sharpness and martial resolve of an ancient god. 604

Personality

Nuwa is deeply affectionate toward the human race she created. She regards humans as her children and takes genuine joy in their survival, prosperity, and capacity to create beauty beyond basic survival. While examining modern clothing, she saw decorative patterns as proof that humanity had attained safety and leisure. 506

She is gentle, patient, and appreciative toward Qi WuHuo, addressing him as “child,” praising his efforts, and personally performing his capping ceremony. 506 546

Her compassion does not mean passivity. When confronted with Taiyi's attempt to frame past wrongs as an “end of grudges and favors,” she rejected the premise and destroyed the remnant power herself. She holds that the suffering endured by her children cannot be dismissed. 604
