History
Empress Nuwa created humans during the Second Kalpa. The original human race possessed an innate capacity to sense and resonate with Qi, but that characteristic diminished over generations 243 417.
The first Human Emperor ended wars between human kingdoms, unified their written language, and established an agreement under which the human world would decide its own affairs while immortals and gods maintained order. After his death, the realm split again 116 182 283. For thousands of years, the Human Emperor’s line retained authority over Human Dao Destiny. Li Zhai’s challenge exposed that destiny could also belong to those who served the people without an emperor’s decree 147 183.
Qi WuHuo subsequently deposed a Human Emperor and returned his concentrated destiny to people throughout the realm 399. Working alongside Li Zhai, he founded the Human Teachings, set up nine stone tablets, and made cultivation teachings publicly available 501 502. Li Zhai’s campaigns and the completion of the Nine Cauldrons further united the human world’s destiny 515 567.
After the Heaven and Earth Severing formation ended, scholars of the Hundred Schools used human destiny to repel immortals and gods seeking to sever the realm’s destiny. The human world’s successful defense earned it prestige in the Heavenly Realm 575 582.
Human Dao Destiny
- Source — Human Dao Destiny gathers a portion of the common people’s Primordial Spirit and the Qi of the masses. It can be wielded to protect or to fight 142.
- Recipients — It is not exclusive to royalty: military defenders, people of literary achievement, and those who sustain ordinary life can receive it through their contributions 147 183.
- Defenses — The Nine Steles anchor destiny to Mount Tai; the Nine Cauldrons unite it; and scholars can draw on it beneath the cauldrons’ protection 501 568 575.
Society and Institutions
- Hundred Schools of Thought — Their academies accept disciples. Schools including the Mohists, Legalists, and Yin Yang School took part in the defense against invading immortals 575 700.
- Local divine offices — Human heroic souls can be appointed to guard cities, complementing Earthly Deities who maintain mountains and rivers. City Gods and Underworld offices help stabilize the realm’s yin and yang 528 531.
- Later era — Over the following thousand years, the Hundred Schools, destiny network, and divine offices made the realm exceptionally stable. Visiting heavenly gods had to notify both the Heavenly Court and the mortal realm before traveling there in human form 670.
- Capital City — A core node of the Destiny Great Formation and home of the Nine Steles, which academy masters protect as a possession of the human race rather than private property 700.
