"Whoa! Those pairs of breasts are huge! Their figures and looks are absolutely flawless!"
A middle-aged man with long white hair stared lecherously at the women's bathhouse in the distance. A long string of drool spilled from the corner of his mouth as he cried out:
"Yoshi, yoshi! These women are easily the finest beauties we've come across on this trip!"
"Sigh!"
A helpless sigh rang out. A boy of about thirteen shook his head and looked at the white-haired man as if life had lost all meaning.
"Jiraiya, can't we do something positive for once?"
"Like robbing the rich to help the poor? Gathering intelligence? Or, failing that, helping an old lady cross the street?"
"An old lady? Where? Is she pretty?"
Jiraiya whipped around, scanning the area.
He looked for a long while, but aside from rocks and trees covering the mountain, he didn't see a thing.
Jiraiya frowned and issued a stern warning:
"Steel-Piercing Ye Fan! You can't joke about old ladies. If you trick me again, I'll beat you up!"
After delivering his threat, Jiraiya turned back toward the bathhouse and resumed watching with relish.
Ye Fan rolled his eyes, at a loss for words.
What the hell did he mean by an old lady? He meant a grandmother!
As expected, Cao Cao might die, but Cao Thief would live forever.
Ye Fan had grown up with Jiraiya, so none of this surprised him anymore.
Habit was a terrifying thing...
If Ye Fan hadn't known all along that Jiraiya was one of the legendary Sannin and the strongest fighter in the early story,
watching him carry on like this, Ye Fan really would have thought he'd been adopted by a pervert!
In his previous life, Ye Fan had been a bestselling author whose novels were read exclusively by handsome men and beautiful women!
One day, while crossing the street, he was sent flying by a car that ran a red light. After that, he wound up in the Naruto World.
Ye Fan had been a Naruto fan in his previous life and knew everything that happened in the series inside and out.
Like the characters he'd written, he'd also acquired a system.
At first, the system had offered Ye Fan two choices:
1. Inherit all of the First Hokage Hashirama Senju's powers, the God of Shinobi, including Asura's bloodline.
When Ye Fan saw the first choice, he was so excited he nearly jumped out of his skin.
He knew exactly how powerful Hashirama Senju was. He could fight Madara Uchiha with both hands tied behind his back—or rather, with only nine hundred and ninety-eight hands!
The Nine-Tails was nothing more than a little pet in his hands. He was the undisputed God of Shinobi.
And that wasn't all. If Ye Fan inherited Hashirama Senju's powers, he'd never have to worry about housing again.
Wood Release: Three-Bedroom Apartment Technique. Wood Release: Whole Villa Technique. They'd be a piece of cake!
Ye Fan didn't hesitate when he saw the first choice. He was about to pick it on the spot.
But!
The moment the second choice appeared, he forced himself to stop!
2. Acquire Son Goku's Saiyan bloodline. After choosing, you will be unable to learn any of the Naruto World's ninjutsu.
When Ye Fan saw this choice, his mind went blank.
A Saiyan bloodline in the Naruto World? That was a complete dimensional mismatch!
Ye Fan guessed that even the first Super Saiyan form would be enough to tear through the entire Naruto World!
Ninjutsu was cool, and Wood Release was awesome, but neither could compete with raw power and temptation!
Ye Fan decisively chose the Saiyan bloodline. Ninjutsu didn't seem all that important anymore...
"Ye Fan, let's get a little closer. We're too far away to see clearly!"
Jiraiya drooled as he prepared to move closer.
"Jiraiya, are you sure you want to get any closer? We're already only seven or eight meters from the bathhouse!"
"Hmph! I'm only doing this so I can find a way for you to train!"
"Otherwise, why would I, the Toad Sage of Mount Myōboku, spy on ordinary mortals?"
"So that's your excuse for dragging me around to peep at beautiful women?"
Ye Fan pointed to the handprint on Jiraiya's face. During their travels, the marks on Jiraiya's face had never stayed gone for long.
The old ones would barely fade before new ones appeared.
"Can a novelist's spying really be called spying? I'm gathering material! It's art!"
Jiraiya pinched Ye Fan's cheek and said, "I didn't raise you all these years just for you to waste your potential. I've suffered so much and taken so many beatings just to help you train!"
"And after all that, you can't even call me 'teacher.' Fine, don't call me that—but now you're trying to stop me, too!"
"Jiraiya, I really don't need to train in ninjutsu. The taijutsu you taught me is more than enough..."
"No! You need ninjutsu. You need to train!"
Jiraiya wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth and snuck toward the bathhouse.
As soon as they reached the foot of the mountain, Ye Fan heard a barrage of shouts and curses.
"You filthy old man! How dare you spy on us bathing!"
"You pervert! Go to hell!"
"Have you no shame? You're that old and still pull something like this!"
"Hey, hey... Ladies, please hear me out! I wasn't spying on you. I'm a writer—I was gathering material!"
"Go to hell! How does gathering material make your nose bleed?"
"Shameless!"
The next time Ye Fan saw Jiraiya, the man had been beaten to a pulp.
His face was bruised and swollen, and his mouth was nearly knocked crooked...
"Haha, Jiraiya, you really look the part of the Toad Sage now!"
"Shut up, you heartless brat! Those women beat me up, and you didn't even come help!"
"Ow... That hurts... Tss... Those women were no joke. They really went all out!"
Jiraiya rubbed his swollen face and groaned.
"Help? What was I supposed to do? Get beaten up alongside you?" Ye Fan said with a gleeful laugh.
Jiraiya rolled his eyes and counted on his fingers. "The Chunin Ninja Exams should be starting soon. Go back to Konoha and take them. It'll give you a chance to see the gap between you and the Chunin—and stop you from bragging all day!"
By now, Jiraiya was starting to believe some of the rumors.
Before, when he went spying—er, gathering material—he'd never been beaten up.
Ever since he'd started traveling with Ye Fan, though, he got beaten every single day!
He planned to send Ye Fan away and see whether he'd still get beaten up without the boy around.
"Are the Chunin Ninja Exams really starting this year?"
Ye Fan did the math. This was the same Chunin exam class as Naruto's—and the same year the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, died.
"How about it? Scared?" Jiraiya asked Ye Fan. "Where'd all that bragging go? Are you afraid of dying now?"
"Afraid? What are you talking about? Me, afraid?"
"Jiraiya, I'll tell you right now: I'm going to pass the Chunin exams this year and show you!"
"Not bad, not bad. Just try not to cry when you get beaten up."
"I'm warning you now. If someone beats you until you cry, I'm not going to step in!"
"Hmph! Who needs you to step in? Let's go!" Ye Fan said.
"Go? Where?" Jiraiya asked, looking confused.
"Back to Konoha for the exams!"
"I'm not taking them. Why would I go back? Besides, I still need to spy—er, find a way for you to train!"
"..."
Ye Fan was momentarily speechless.
The clear sky opened up and it started raining once again.
As raindrops fell on him, Ye Fan suddenly remembered something and asked with some concern:
"Jiraiya, why don't you come back to Konoha with me? Amegakure isn't our territory, and I'm a little worried about your safety."
"Aw, you brat. Trying to play the sentimental card? You're the one who's scared something might happen to you on the road!"
"Worry about yourself first. Think about how you're going to make it back to Konoha safely!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiraiya vanished.
