History
Regional power and expansion
The Bihai Immortal Sect was one of the three Golden Core powers occupying the Penglai Islands, alongside the Zhang Family of Xuanxiao Mountain and the Su Family of Liuyun Mountain. The three powers jointly established Yunhua Immortal City around a third-tier Spirit Vein, but the sect received half of the city's annual revenue due to its stronger high-level cultivators; the Zhang and Su families divided the remaining half. 6
Following the death of its first-generation ancestor, the sect spent roughly a century bribing Zhang-affiliated families and encroaching upon Zhang Family assets. Its leadership sought to unify the Penglai Islands, but initially avoided a direct assault while the Zhang and Su families could potentially ally against it. 6 21
Pressure on the Zhang and Su families
True Person Canghun and the sect's leadership viewed the Zhang–Su marriage alliance as an obstacle to their plans. At Zhang Xuanchen's succession ceremony, they attempted to publicly suppress the Zhang Family by sending sect prodigies to challenge its younger generation; Canghun even instructed Yang Haoyu to kill or cripple Zhang Xuanchen if possible. 91
The attempt backfired when Young Sect Master Xu Haolong was defeated in a single move by Zhang Xuanbing. The loss damaged the sect's prestige among the gathered Penglai forces. 100 101
The sect continued to pressure its rivals through indirect means:
- Its disciples extorted additional Spirit Stones from cultivators entering Yunhua Immortal City under Ma Teng's orders. 84
- It disrupted Zhang Family industries and Spirit Vein territories while avoiding permanent damage to assets it expected to claim later. 206
- It destroyed the Xuanxiao Merchant Guild and other Zhang properties while Zhang Chongxian was absent, provoking Zhang Chongxian to destroy Bihai Pavilion and nineteen sect market towns and spiritual lands. 213 215
- It maintained informants within the Zhang Family, though the identity of the infiltrator was not revealed in the available account. 225
War against the Su Clan
After Yang Haoyu achieved Golden Core and Canghun reached Golden Core Peak, the sect judged itself to be at the height of its strength. Canghun ordered a surprise night assault on the Su Clan, intending to eliminate it and begin the unification of the Penglai Islands. 293 295
The operation failed. Su Jiaru self-detonated after burning her Golden Core, killing Bu Yun and many Bihai Immortal Sect cultivators. Canghun shielded the surviving disciples at great personal cost and withdrew with severe injuries. He also concluded that a high-ranking traitor had compromised the sect's plans. 307
Final battle and destruction
Despite its losses, the sect remained a threat. Canghun concentrated its remaining combat power on Xuanling Mountain and relied on the Sect Protecting Grand Array rather than defending its outlying holdings. 349
The Zhang Family, Su Clan, and allied forces launched their final campaign against the sect. After True Persons Yangxie and Qingxie were killed, Canghun ordered a retreat; the sect's forces collapsed into panic, and Zhang cultivators pursued the fleeing disciples. 354
At the mountain gate, Yang Haoyu attempted to self-detonate but was stopped by Chu Zhiwei's Spirit Talisman. Pang Quan burned his Foundation Establishment True Essence to sustain the defensive formation and buy time for his descendants to escape. 359
Luo Lingshuang ultimately destroyed the grand array with the Vast Sea Overturning Technique, killing Pang Quan, Pang Gu, and Xiao Meng. The Zhang Family claimed victory, and the Bihai Immortal Sect ceased to exist as a power. 360
