Yayoi is the child of Uesugi Koshu and Uesugi Asane; through his mother, he belongs to the Senju bloodline. Tsunade identifies his unusually strong physique, Yang Release affinity, chakra reserves, and elemental potential as characteristic of the Senju. 14
