"Sir Sutter, do you just have to put the Beast Gear on a monster?"
In the room, Aiven held the Beast Gear, forged from black metal, and asked the patrol knight before him.
He had taken this Beast Gear off the Ironclad Rhinoceros, but he hadn't had a chance to use it yet.
Sutter glanced at the Beast Gear in Aiven's hands, surprised, then shook his head. "Of course it's not that simple."
"Although Beast Gear can weaken a monster's hostility and influence its mind, those effects can only assist in taming it."
The knight explained how humans tamed monsters. The first thing they did upon joining the Knight Order was tame a monster using their own abilities.
There were many ways to make a monster submit. It might accept you, respect you, or, of course, fear you.
Beast Gear could amplify that submission endlessly in a monster's mind, leaving a mental imprint that allowed it to be controlled.
Aiven listened quietly. He already knew how Beast Gear worked; now he wanted to learn how to tame monsters.
"You want to tame those Great Wolfdogs?"
Seeing Aiven lost in thought, Sutter hesitated. "There are too many Great Wolfdogs. It won't be easy to control them."
"I want to give it a try."
"The Great Wolfdogs will remain a threat as long as they're here. We have to find a way to deal with them once and for all."
"If we can tame them, they could also help protect the village. Then the village will be safe this winter."
Aiven made no attempt to hide his intentions. The Great Wolfdogs were dominant creatures throughout the Black Forest. If he could gain their allegiance, his strength would increase considerably.
He could just kill all the Great Wolfdogs... Sutter furrowed his brow slightly.
