"Naughty Auntie Feifei, don't you dare talk about my Daddy!"
Zhang Han remained expressionless, but Mengmeng was unhappy. She said to Zhou Fei with a look of anger.
"You little traitor!" Zhou Fei rolled her eyes, annoyed, and stopped her attempt to mock Zhang Han further.
"Alright, Xiao Fei, stop messing around."
Ziyan shot her a look, took off her headscarf and sunglasses, let down her long hair that was tied up on her head, and shook her head.
Her long hair fluttered, and combined with her eye-catching figure, it even made Zhang Han turn his head.
She's really beautiful.
Zhang Han couldn't help but murmur to himself.
"Wow, Mommy is so beautiful." The Little Princess praised in her milky voice, wondering when she would be able to shake her long hair like that.
"You're beautiful too." Ziyan smiled and patted Mengmeng's head. She glanced at Zhang Han and said, "Let's go upstairs. Upstairs is where Mengmeng, I, and Zhou Fei live. Besides Aunt Wang's room, there are two guest rooms downstairs. You can stay in one of them tonight."
"Okay."
Zhang Han nodded and followed Ziyan upstairs.
The second floor was also quite spacious, with a large living room. The underside of the stair railings was equipped with mesh guards, and the stairs were carpeted.
"Daddy, Daddy, put Mengmeng down."
As soon as they got upstairs, Mengmeng wriggled in Zhang Han's arms.
Once Mengmeng was on the ground, her expression was overjoyed. She ran forward excitedly. The sofa was covered with small stuffed dolls, and there were many toys on the coffee table in front.
"Daddy, come quickly."
Mengmeng led Zhang Han to share her toys one by one.
"Wow, this one is so pretty. Ah, this big tiger is so scary. What is this? Mickey Mouse?" Zhang Han played along with Mengmeng in a slightly exaggerated tone.
Mengmeng giggled non-stop, constantly saying, "Isn't it pretty? Does it look like Mengmeng? Daddy, I'm telling you, this, this tiger can bite! Look... Daddy, this isn't Mickey Mouse, it's Donald Duck. Daddy is so silly..."
"Tch, you're really good at coaxing children!" Zhou Fei muttered from the doorway of the room behind them, pursing her lips.
"You really shouldn't say that in front of Mengmeng anymore. Mengmeng is very close to him now," Ziyan said from inside while changing her clothes.
"Sister Yan."
Zhou Fei walked into the room, closed the door, and asked in a low voice, "Why did you let that guy come?"
Ziyan was slightly stunned and replied, "Because Mengmeng was crying so hard, I let him come up."
Mengmeng's crying might have been only a small reason. The larger reason was that Ziyan had seen what Zhang Han had done for Mengmeng, seen his changes, and seen the deep fatherly love he had for her.
He had truly put all his heart into caring for Mengmeng.
She hadn't expected that after only a few days of meeting, Zhang Han would dote on Mengmeng so much. Perhaps this was the bond of blood.
"Sister Yan, this won't do!" Zhou Fei said with a hint of nervousness, "If that guy spends too much time with Mengmeng, what if he tries to take her away? You still have a lot of work to do, and you can't let that guy take advantage of the situation. Sister Yan, think about it, what if he finds a stepmother for Mengmeng in the future? A stepmother might not be as kind to a child who isn't her own!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Ziyan's gaze sharpened.
She started to overthink, and images of Mengmeng's stepmother hitting her flashed through her mind. Her body shivered, and she said with a firm tone, "No! I absolutely will not allow such a situation to happen!"
"Oh, right." Zhou Fei's eyes darted around and she said, "There's one way that might work!"
"What way?" Ziyan asked.
"If all else fails, Sister Yan, you'll have to sacrifice yourself and just make do with that guy outside. That way, you'll both be Mengmeng's biological parents, and you won't have any future worries!" Zhou Fei said, trying to suppress a laugh.
"Don't talk nonsense."
Ziyan pushed her away impatiently and rolled her eyes, "I don't like his stubborn personality at all."
In her heart, her Prince Charming had to be handsome, gentle, elegant, talented, virtuous, and kind.
Zhang Han was nowhere near the Prince Charming in her imagination.
"I think so too. He's not as good as Young Master Li," Zhou Fei agreed, nodding deeply.
"Don't talk nonsense."
Ziyan's brow furrowed slightly. She inwardly disliked the playboy Young Master Li.
Changing into a comfortable pair of pajamas, she walked out of the bedroom and saw Mengmeng happily playing with Zhang Han.
She forcefully carried the Little Princess into the bedroom and changed her pajamas. As soon as she let go, Mengmeng dashed out and continued playing with Zhang Han.
Normally, this house wouldn't be so noisy, and the Little Princess would even be asleep by now. But because of Zhang Han's arrival, the house had suddenly become lively.
The living room was filled with the Little Princess's bell-like milky laughter, occasionally accompanied by Zhang Han's hearty laughter. Even Aunt Wang in the bedroom downstairs could hear it.
It wasn't until half-past eleven at night. The Little Princess was still happily playing, but Ziyan sternly told her to go to sleep.
"Hmph! Naughty Mommy, Mengmeng hasn't finished playing yet," the Little Princess said angrily.
Facing Mengmeng's stubbornness, Ziyan glared at Zhang Han. With Zhang Han's persuasion, the Little Princess finally agreed to go to sleep, but only if Daddy would tell her a story.
So, Zhang Han walked into Ziyan and Mengmeng's bedroom.
Mengmeng slept in a small bed, while Ziyan slept in a normal-sized bed. Though the beds differed in size, they shared a characteristic: both were covered in numerous fluffy dolls.
It seemed Ziyan still had a girlish heart.
Zhang Han gave a faint smile.
After telling Mengmeng a story for a while, she fell into a deep sleep.
Gently tucking Mengmeng in, Zhang Han tiptoed out of the room.
As soon as he opened the door, he heard Zhou Fei's somewhat angry voice from the living room:
"The songs were chosen, and I went to the production department, but they said the song quality wasn't good enough, so they wouldn't spend a lot of resources and effort to shoot a dedicated MV. They could only shoot a simple, ordinary one. It's infuriating! Then I went to find that old witch, and what happened? She completely ignored me, even saying, 'If you're unhappy with the company's MV quality, then hire a good team yourself!' What kind of talk is that? Aren't we still the company's artists?"
Ziyan frowned slightly and said softly, "I'll try talking to Sister Mei tomorrow."
"Sister Yan, it won't help even if you go. You're already out of favor with the old witch, and what she said is true. The song quality is indeed not good. Why don't you reconsider the album?"
"No album. If we keep delaying, there won't be any opportunities," Ziyan shook her head slightly.
She had come to see things clearly. The company currently had no intention of investing resources in her. Perhaps it was because a washed-up star couldn't make a comeback, or perhaps it was due to Young Master Li Cheng's machinations. Regardless of the reason, the result was that Ziyan wouldn't receive any resources anytime soon.
Instead of that, it was better to release an album directly.
Although the album's songs were of subpar quality, it would at least reawaken people's memories of her. Moreover, Ziyan believed that her many fans still adored her!
"Release an album?" Zhang Han sat on the sofa to the side, glanced at Ziyan, and said, "Didn't you transition from a singer to an actress? Why are you releasing an album?"
"I haven't appeared in the public eye for five years. It's not like the old days, and this is all because of you, right?" Ziyan shot Zhang Han a glare.
"Uh..."
Zhang Han was momentarily speechless.
This woman always spoke to him as if she were armed with a shotgun!
"Your album songs aren't good, how about..."
Before Zhang Han could finish speaking, Ziyan's expression turned cold. "You don't need to worry about my business!"
After saying that, Ziyan got up and walked towards the bedroom.
Her expression was visibly angry.
"Tsk, meddling. Serves you right!" Zhou Fei pouted and said, then swayed her hips as she walked towards her bedroom.
Zhang Han frowned slightly and headed downstairs.
On the stairs, he muttered:
"Good intentions treated like donkey lungs and liver. If you weren't Mengmeng's mom, I wouldn't bother asking."
Zhang Han's intentions were good. The trajectory of this life's development had deviated slightly from the previous one. Some celebrity figures had never appeared, but Zhang Han was familiar with their works. Coupled with his understanding of music, it wouldn't be difficult to replicate those songs.
He had intended to offer a small favor, but she wasn't interested. Zhang Han felt there was no need to fawn over someone who wouldn't appreciate it.
However, Ziyan had no idea what Zhang Han was thinking.
Ziyan remembered their last argument very clearly. She thought Zhang Han's unfinished words were going to be: "Why don't you just retire? What's the point of being a mere actor on screen?"
Subconsciously, Ziyan didn't want to discuss such things with Zhang Han and found the topic repulsive, which was why she had so coldly interrupted him.
Even after returning to her bed in the bedroom, Ziyan still grumbled softly to herself in anger.
It was nothing more than words like "Scoundrel! Stubborn mule, bad-tempered!"
Zhang Han entered the bedroom arranged for him downstairs. It was like a hotel room, with a private bathroom, and the bedding and other supplies were all new. Zhang Han took off his clothes, lay on the bed, played with his phone for a while, and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Originally, he was reluctant to stay here. His identity was rather awkward; he wasn't Ziyan's husband, yet they had a child together. In such a situation, staying overnight at Ziyan's house felt a bit uncomfortable.
But he wanted to take Mengmeng out to play the next day, so he endured the awkwardness and stayed.
The next day, 8 AM.
Wang Juan had prepared breakfast. The spread was simple: sweet potato congee, which Mengmeng and Ziyan liked, a plate with six or seven boiled eggs, some bagged milk-flavored steamed buns bought from the supermarket, and a small amount of pickles.
Zhang Han sat in the living room downstairs, casually watching TV. He had woken up around six, but there was no movement upstairs until eight o'clock, when two groggy adults and Mengmeng finally came down.
"Daddy!"
Mengmeng ran and skipped over, throwing herself into Zhang Han's arms with a look of pure happiness.
This was the first time she had experienced waking up to see both Daddy and Mommy together.
"Oh my, what a little traitor. Ever since you met that guy, you're not even affectionate with Auntie Feifei anymore, tsk tsk," Zhou Fei said with a hint of jealousy.
