The lesson by the river continued.
"Yungu, did you notice? Kevin can really take a beating," Biscuit said.
Yungu frowned and thought for a moment, then nodded. It really did seem that way.
However, because he knew Kevin's special circumstances—Kevin had once been a Nen user—he did not find it strange.
"Because he used Flow without even realizing it."
This time, Yungu was genuinely shocked. He looked at the bewildered Kevin.
Before they had gone looking for Kevin, he had been in the midst of training these techniques.
"What is Flow?" Kevin asked.
That naming style seemed to be another kind of Nen technique.
Some Nen ability techniques had simple, straightforward names, while others were incredibly abstract.
"Ahem. Teacher Biscuit's class is now in session!"
Biscuit cleared her throat and began explaining it to Kevin.
"Besides the Four Major Principles, Nen has seven more techniques."
Kevin nodded. He understood—advanced abilities.
"In fact, you've been using many of them all along. You just didn't know their names."
With that, Biscuit began her explanation.
En—an advanced application of Ken and Ren. It expanded Aura outward from the body, allowing the user to detect intruders who entered its range.
Ren—an application technique of Ren. It concentrated the Aura enhanced through Ren into the eyes, allowing one to see through an opponent's Concealment and Aura. It was a fundamental combat technique.
Concealment—a method that used techniques such as Hatsu to render Aura semi-substantial, making it difficult for opponents to discern.
Ko—the simultaneous use of Ken, Zetsu, Ren, Hatsu, and Ren, allowing a Nen user to unleash an attack of tremendous power.
Ken—an advanced use of Ren and Ken that strengthened one's own defense and offense.
Paper—an application technique of Ken. It applied Nen to objects one touched, enhancing the objects' abilities.
Flow—the dynamic adjustment of Aura distribution throughout the body, making one's offense and defense more efficient.
Kevin listened carefully and understood the techniques. Honestly, they were fairly easy to grasp.
But could these really be considered advanced techniques?
He was somewhat confused. Ever since he had learned of Nen and gained it himself, he had already been using his own Nen to make the same adjustments.
There was only one technique among them that he had never considered or trained: Concealment.
"They feel familiar, right?" Biscuit asked.
Kevin nodded.
Yungu finally realized it as well and looked at Kevin. "So whenever we sparred, you could always dodge my attacks at the start.
"But why couldn't you keep doing it after a while?"
That question left Kevin awkwardly speechless.
"Uh..."
"Because his body is too weak. The Aura inside him is extremely limited, and the amount of Aura he can release is also extremely limited."
Biscuit answered for him.
"No wonder. So every time you called for a stop, it wasn't because you really couldn't continue, but because you felt that if things went on, you might get hurt?" Yungu asked again.
Kevin nodded. Wasn't that only natural?
I barely have any Aura to begin with. If I run out of Aura to defend myself and you throw a punch at me, wouldn't I just die right there?
The reason Yungu had never noticed this problem was because, from the very beginning, he had placed Kevin's strength above his own.
He had merely assumed that Kevin's injuries and amnesia had kept him from displaying it.
Yet it turned out that from very early on, Kevin had actually been fighting with the strength he had possessed in the past—strength that was even greater than before.
Listening to the two of them, Biscuit silently sighed and pressed a hand to her forehead.
Those two really were born Enhancement Types.
At that moment, Kevin realized it too.
"If the seven techniques you mentioned are advanced applications that require long periods of training and a certain amount of talent to achieve...
"Doesn't that mean... I'm actually pretty impressive?"
Kevin knew far too little about Nen users. To be honest, he did not know much about this world either.
He had always judged others by Jin's standards and his own.
He had never considered that being able to control Aura freely and at will was a difficult thing.
Now he understood why Biscuit had been making him train his physical fitness so relentlessly from beginning to end.
"Don't get happy too soon. I told you before, didn't I? Your learning ability is terrible.
"These so-called advanced techniques are only things that those self-taught and half-baked Nen users fail to master completely.
"Every true expert is proficient in these techniques. Against them, you would have no chance of winning.
"Your terrible learning ability will keep you from incorporating these Nen ability techniques into your own combat style, especially when you still need to create your own ultimate technique."
The flaw Kevin once had—his lack of focus—had already been polished away by Biscuit.
After realizing that Kevin's restlessness stemmed only from his past experiences, two weeks of pure outdoor training, along with his passion for Nen abilities, had easily brought him up to an ordinary standard. It could no longer be called a flaw.
Only his learning ability remained.
In essence, Kevin had not improved during those two weeks of actual combat. His Aura reserves had merely increased.
As for combat techniques... he could only use the clumsy method that took time and effort.
For a good child who had stepped out of an ivory tower, such a clumsy method was not particularly effective, but it was the only choice.
After giving him a lecture, Biscuit could not help feeling relieved. Fortunately, Kevin was fundamentally an Enhancement Type Nen user.
When it came to creating one's own Nen ability, Enhancement Types undoubtedly had the lowest requirements for learning ability.
He only needed to honestly integrate these Nen ability techniques into combat, and that alone would be enough to call it his own Nen ability.
The flaws in Kevin, this raw stone, would always be made up for by his brilliance elsewhere.
In a sense, he really could be considered lucky.
"My own ultimate technique? But don't I already have my own Nen—"
Before he could finish, Kevin quietly closed his mouth.
Although Biscuit had not said much about it, Kevin was certain that she had long since noticed that something was off about him.
I see. Then it's certain—Moment's Dream won't stop me from creating a real Nen ability that truly belongs to me.
He really could create a suitable Enhancement Type Nen ability for himself without holding anything back, even while possessing a Specialization Type Nen ability.
Then how should I—
"Don't think too much. What you should be doing now is learning more about Nen abilities and properly training your body.
"And truly understanding your own Nen ability."
Biscuit spoke sternly.
Kevin put away his wild thoughts and nodded firmly.
"Class dismissed! Keep training!"
As she spoke, Biscuit snapped her fingers once more.
Yungu was sent flying again, while Kevin dodged aside once more.
