"Congratulations, you have reached the 200th floor. Please proceed to the 200th floor to register. Two hundred million in prize money has been deposited into your account."
Kevin nodded.
Ever since that battle with Killua, Kevin had no intention of wasting too much time below the 200th floor.
After that, he had fought a few more matches, relying on his Nen ability to quickly learn his opponents' exertion techniques and then cleanly securing victory.
Barely a few days had passed before he reached the 200th floor.
Any higher up, and it was entirely a contest among Nen users. If he were still as arrogant as he was in the lower levels, attempting to learn by taking attacks head-on, it clearly wouldn't work.
What's more, when facing Nen-related attacks, that kind of learning ability would also drop off drastically.
After all, as it related to Nen, under a certain instinctual bias of Kevin's, it was easier to learn endogenous types of power—meaning generating changes from within the body using potions.
Kevin took the elevator straight to the 200th floor.
As soon as he stepped onto this floor, Nen Aura carrying distinct malice permeated the entire hallway.
For ordinary people, the moment they arrived here was like stepping into a hunting ground surrounded by natural enemies, feeling as though they were in a demon's lair.
"Really not very friendly."
Unmoved, Kevin walked straight toward the registration desk.
Next to the registration desk, a receptionist girl wearing a Sky Arena work uniform stood quietly.
At a glance, Kevin could tell she was a Nen user. It seemed that on the 200th floor, even the staff had to master Nen.
Come to think of it, that made sense. If one didn't know Nen and worked on this floor, they would probably be driven crazy.
Before Kevin could speak, a burst of "heh-heh" laughter came from the nearby hallway.
"It's a newcomer."
"Looks like he can use Nen."
"Want to register for a match with us? I'll show mercy, yo."
"Heh-heh!"
Kevin looked over and saw a few bizarre-looking people standing there. Without exception, these people were all somewhat disabled in their limbs, and some even wore eyepatches.
With a single glance, Kevin could tell that their Nen abilities were not refined, and they hadn't even mastered the most basic Four Major Principles properly.
"Scram. If my first opponent is trash like you guys, it'll be way too boring. I have no interest in bullying the disabled."
Kevin's words were like a sharp drill, plunging straight into their hearts and hitting their pain points.
"What did you say! You arrogant bastard."
"Yo, this rookie's got some guts. I hope you can still talk this tough once you're in the ring."
"Hurry up and register. I'll definitely torture you properly and leave you without even a chance to surrender."
"I'll make you end up just like us."
Faced with the clamoring of these people, Kevin merely waved his hand impatiently, just as if he were shooing away annoying flies.
His arrogant attitude completely infuriated these people all the more.
With their emotional fluctuations, their Nen Aura radiated out more intensely, overflowing with malice.
"Get lost, you bunch of trash, don't block the way!"
A shrill voice carrying dissatisfaction came from behind the group.
Hearing this voice, those people scattered to both sides like they had seen something terrifying, clearing a path.
A tall figure walked slowly over, dressed in a strangely styled, tight-fitting suit that seemed fit only for a pervert.
This person's face was covered in countless scars, the exposed palms were full of cut marks as well, and a head of dry, straw-like yellow hair was scattered about casually.
As he walked, the four weapons hanging at his waist collided, making a "clinking" sound.
Seeing this person walk over, even the staff member beside the registration desk turned somewhat pale.
A pair of murky eyes stared intently at Kevin, full of scrutiny in their gaze.
"A newborn seedling, what a pity. You've actually already learned Nen." His voice carried a trace of sharpness, and his speaking tone was like singing an opera.
"As a gardener, I don't mind, though. How about it? Would you care to have a battle worthy of art with me? I'll 'prune' you nicely."
As he spoke, he began pacing around Kevin.
The Nen Aura on his body radiated outward uncontrollably along with his emotions.
This Nen Aura was completely different from the Qi carrying malice or combat intent found on normal Nen users; it was filled with an eerie sensation, causing anyone who smelled or sensed it to involuntarily feel disgust.
"I'm here to register," Kevin said expressionlessly to the staff member.
The receptionist girl finally snapped out of it and hurriedly nodded.
She adjusted her emotions and asked, "When do you plan to participate in a match? Let me explain the details for you..."
However, Kevin directly waved his hand.
"Register, anytime is fine. I understand the rules, no need for introductions."
Hearing this, the girl nodded.
Kevin stepped aside, looking toward the sickening man, his calm actions fully displaying a provocative intent.
As for the few people who had been making a racket just moments ago, they were now looking at Kevin as if looking at a dead man.
One of them opened his mouth as if wanting to say something, but after being glanced at by the scar-faced man, he fearfully clamped his mouth shut and swallowed hard.
"I'll register too, then. This is truly something to look forward to."
With that, he turned around, only to find that Kevin had long since vanished, leaving behind only a receding back.
Watching that back, the man's expression grew even gloomier.
He gritted his teeth, his voice sounding as though it had been squeezed out hard from the depths of his throat: "I'll definitely 'prune' this seedling of yours properly and make you 'perfect'."
Kevin didn't go home; instead, he headed straight to Mito's home.
"Sit down, I'll go put on a jacket," Mito said, heading toward his room.
"Put on a jacket? Are you going out?" Kevin asked, somewhat puzzled.
Now it was Mito's turn to look blank. He stood in place, looking at Kevin, and even used his hand to gesture the motion of holding a wine glass and bringing it to his mouth.
"I didn't come here to drag you out drinking."
"Ah? Sorry."
Realizing he had misunderstood, Mito walked back over.
"Could it be that whenever I come looking for you, it's only to eat and drink?" Kevin said helplessly.
Mito shrugged without giving a detailed explanation.
In the past, whenever Kevin came to find him during the day, it was usually to check on the progress of his training and offer some guidance along the way.
If he came over at night, without exception, it was to invite him out for food and drinks.
Along the way, they would stroll through the night market and procure some medicinal herbs and similar items.
The "Wandering Tribe" Mito belonged to had quite a bit of research into these things, and he also knew of some special channels to buy "materials" that weren't easily acquired on the market.
As repayment, he often assisted Kevin in purchasing them.
"I remember you have some combat recordings of fighters on the 200th floor and above here, right?"
Mito nodded.
Unlike Kevin, he didn't possess Nen before, so after ascending to the 200th floor, he had deliberately collected quite a few recordings of this sort.
"I went to register today, and barring any accidents, my opponent will be a tight-suit-wearing, scar-faced pervert who also has four different weapons tied to his body."
Hearing this, Mito widened his eyes.
He wasn't surprised that Kevin had already ascended to the 200th floor; to him, that wasn't any startling news.
What truly surprised him was the opponent Kevin was about to face.
"Are you sure? That guy is dangerous. All the recordings I've collected show that he is extremely dangerous."
Mito said with a grave expression, the worry on his face self-evident.
"Oh? Pull them out and let's take a look." Kevin instantly grew interested.
