Sky Arena.
200th Floor arena.
The stands were packed, and the audience's cheers rose and fell in waves.
"Chrollo's cruel art!"
"Wonder which unlucky rookie is about to suffer some brutal torment."
"Haha, isn't that great?"
"I paid a lot for this ticket just to see this."
The spectators shouted to their hearts' content, their faces carrying varying degrees of fanaticism and bloodlust.
They all seemed to be fans of one of the fighters about to take the stage.
Besides the ordinary spectators, several Nen users were seated in the stands as well.
In the arena.
The tall, thin, scar-faced man in a perverse skintight suit slowly stepped out. The four weapons at his waist clinked against one another.
Chrollo raised a hand and pointed a sharp finger at Kevin across from him.
"Little sapling, I'll 'prune' you into perfection!"
His voice was shrill and cloying, disgusting to hear.
Kevin stood opposite him, silently studying his opponent.
In the stands.
Yungu, seated among the audience, asked, "Master, can Kevin beat him?"
From Yungu's perspective, the Nen Aura radiating from the man called Chrollo was far more intimidating. At the very least, Yungu did not think he was currently a match for him.
Biscuit watched quietly.
They had received word when Kevin reached the 200th Floor and immediately rushed over, only to arrive just in time for his first match.
"Unless there's an overwhelming gap in strength, the outcome of a fight isn't so easy to determine," Biscuit instructed.
"Still, Chrollo already has his own Nen ability, and he has so many fans. That means he's fought many battles here and accumulated extensive experience fighting Nen users."
When they had parted ways four months ago, Kevin had only been a newly qualified Nen user.
Kevin might have had talent, but combat experience between Nen users was not something that could easily be made up for.
Besides, Kevin's original combat experience had not been particularly extensive to begin with.
"Still, he hasn't relaxed in the slightest. Both his Nen Aura and the level of physical training he's achieved have exceeded my expectations."
Biscuit could not help praising him. After all, who would not appreciate a disciplined, hardworking student?
The battle officially began.
At the signal, neither side moved recklessly. They remained where they stood.
Kevin watched his opponent, recalling the information he had learned from the recordings last night.
The weapons Chrollo used in battle were precisely the four hanging from his waist.
None of them were long weapons: a serrated dagger, steel needles, a Meteor Hammer, and a hook.
All four weapons hung from his belt, with thin cords connecting their ends to it.
Based on the battles Kevin had watched in the recordings, Chrollo threw and controlled these four weapons in every match.
Furthermore, after being thrown, the weapons were incredibly controllable. That was not something ordinary technique could achieve.
He was definitely relying on a Nen ability.
The question was whether he was a Materialization Type, a Manipulation Type, or, with only a very slight possibility, a Specialization Type.
If he was a Materialization Type, then these four weapons should be able to vanish and reappear at any time.
The fact that he openly wore them at his waist might be a misdirection for his enemies. It was a simple but effective trick that could easily grant him an advantage in an encounter.
He could also be a Manipulation Type. Manipulation Types used Nen Aura to control existing objects, and weapons naturally fell within that category.
If he was a Manipulation Type, then the four weapons would attack with extreme flexibility, like extended arms. Coating them with poison might also be a good way to gain an advantage, and a freak like him clearly would not mind doing such a thing.
If he was a Materialization Type, then the four weapons most likely each possessed different functions.
However, in yesterday's recordings, Chrollo had only ever used the Meteor Hammer and dagger when facing rookies or fighters with weaker Nen abilities.
Since he was watching recordings, Kevin could not fully determine the exact functions of those two weapons. He could only speculate based on what they had shown.
"Are you going to stand there like a little Branch without moving? Then I'll come to you."
Chrollo laughed shrilly.
With that, his right hand suddenly pulled the dagger from his waist and hurled it at Kevin.
A flash of silver streaked through the air as the dagger, trailing its thin cord, instantly flew before Kevin.
It was fast, but still within Kevin's limits.
Kevin slightly turned aside, swiftly reached out with his left hand, accurately seized the dagger's cord, and wrapped it around his hand.
"Hm?"
In the stands, Yungu was quite surprised by that move and turned to Biscuit beside him.
Biscuit nodded. "His body's learning ability... got stronger?"
The two of them knew Kevin's body's learning ability better than anyone. Dodging was normal enough, but intercepting an enemy's weapon after dodging was a technical maneuver.
"Could he have already developed his own Nen ability?" Biscuit murmured, considering the possibility.
Killua, seated in the stands across from them, could not help rolling his eyes. Hmph, damn it, he stole that from me again.
Other than a bit of basic combat experience, he had learned nothing.
This was unfair!
The battle continued.
Chrollo was somewhat surprised to see Kevin not only dodge easily, but also catch his weapon.
Kevin gripped the weapon and yanked hard.
What incredible strength! Chrollo instantly made his judgment. His free hand immediately grabbed the Meteor Hammer from his waist and swung it toward Kevin.
Compared with the dagger, the Meteor Hammer was slower, but it carried a howling blast of wind pressure as it smashed straight toward Kevin.
At the same time, the dagger in Kevin's left hand transmitted a stronger pulling force, trying to keep him pinned in place.
"Your strength is too weak. You're utterly worthless."
Kevin flipped aside to evade the attack, then tugged hard with the momentum, actually pulling Chrollo into a stagger.
At that moment, the dagger in Kevin's hand instantly vanished.
Materialization Type, Kevin thought.
The Meteor Hammer struck the ground, and a ring of shockwaves rippled outward.
Kevin hurriedly crouched down and steadied himself.
So the Meteor Hammer attacked by releasing shockwaves.
In that case, the dagger's Traits were most likely what he had suspected earlier: incomparable sharpness.
Then what Traits did the other two weapons possess?
Taking advantage of the opening, Kevin stomped the ground. His explosive force drove a small crater into the floor.
He shot toward Chrollo like an arrow loosed from its bow.
As an Enhancement Type Nen user with the strongest offensive capabilities, Kevin possessed both speed and power in battle.
Seeing Kevin charge at him, Chrollo gripped the reappeared dagger in his right hand and thrust it at him.
Kevin casually tilted his head aside to avoid it, then drove his open left palm forward and struck Chrollo's joint with precision.
The technical attack instantly numbed Chrollo's left hand, and the dagger he held nearly slipped free.
"Have you spent so long bullying the weak that you've forgotten how to fight the strong?"
As Kevin spoke, he clenched his right hand into a fist and viciously punched toward Chrollo's face.
At that moment, Chrollo finally grasped the Meteor Hammer's short handle in his left hand and swung it in from the side.
However, compared to Kevin's attack speed, Chrollo's Meteor Hammer was clearly a beat too slow.
Yet even before the Meteor Hammer connected, its shockwave had already struck.
I see, Kevin understood, but he felt this much power was nothing to fear!
Kevin forced his way through the shockwave. Though his body shifted slightly off course, his fist still slammed heavily into Chrollo's shoulder.
The tremendous force sent Chrollo flying, spinning through the air.
