Eternal Here X Three Bones

In an untraceable past.

In a period of time that could not be determined.

At some unknown point, a pool of blood appeared in the forest, white bones surfacing one after another from its depths.

Where the blood pool had come from could no longer be investigated.

Perhaps it had always been there. Perhaps some creature had died there and transformed into the waters of this pool.

Either way.

It was there now.

It was called a pool, but it resembled a puddle.

That tiny patch of land gave off an enticing scent.

The surrounding creatures were drawn in and fought over it.

Until the strongest among them claimed the place.

Until that creature felt death and aging approach. Time was the most merciless, yet fairest thing in existence.

And this pool helped it, hoping it could live longer.

Until an even stronger creature took its place, or until it finally died beneath the Impact of time.

Seizing, occupying, possessing.

The cycle repeated.

Corpse after corpse died in the pool, and powerhouse after powerhouse made it their grave beneath the Impact of time.

The stronger the dead, the more they left behind after death.

The pool expanded time and again, while bones piled up time and again.

This, in turn, attracted even more powerful creatures.

And so it continued to stack upon itself, rising step by step.

The mire formed from blood and flesh remained, still existing after an unknowable length of time under the Impact of time.

The stronger and smarter someone was, the more they craved life, the more they struggled during the final stages of their fading existence.

The more they fought and seized.

The victor occupied this place, while the dead left their corpses in the pool.
