Background / History

Melusina was raised in Silent Village as its Saintess, a role that ultimately required her to be sacrificed in the village's ritual. Unable to walk from childhood, she lived in the castle and was cared for by Lorraine and the other self-styled “maids.” Her leg condition was not physical: it resulted from Nen aura and the sacrificial connection between the Saintess and the Resentful Eater Snake. 164 171 183

Her isolation left her longing for the outside world. She spent much of her time reading manga—especially romance manga—and regularly sat atop the castle tower to look beyond the village boundary. 170

When her Nen awakened, Melusina gained the ability to distinguish emotions and different forms of love. The experience made her realize that much of the affection around her was not entirely genuine, yet she still valued the villagers’ care and initially intended to fulfill her sacrificial duty rather than abandon them. 175

Lorraine used her own Nen ability after a meteor appeared, believing that Melusina's wish might have brought Kevin to the village. Melusina and Kevin ultimately chose to oppose the ritual together, became a couple, and destroyed the cycle surrounding the Resentful Eater Snake. With the curse lifted, Kevin treated her legs until she could walk again. 172 175 183

Appearance

Melusina is a young woman with ruby-like eyes. She initially used a wheelchair because her legs could not support her weight, though they retained sensation. After the curse was broken and her treatment progressed, she learned to walk independently. 164 175 183
