The Interrupted Portal
With a "whoosh!", just as Luke's claws were about to grab Melinda's head and take her life, Hawkeye Barton intervened, shooting an arrow towards Luke's head. It seemed as if he was prepared to kill Luke and Melinda if Luke dared to continue.
Faced with a life-or-death crisis, Luke's pupils constricted sharply. He couldn't care less about attacking Melinda. After all, he, as Werewolf, wasn't as powerful as other Werewolf, and was far inferior to the Animal Warriors created by the Monkey Talisman experiment. If he were to be pierced through the head by an arrow, he would only be able to die with Melinda...
With a "whoosh!", Luke dodged the arrow, and Melinda, who was beneath Luke, did not take the opportunity to counterattack. She knew that her attack was not enough to deal with Luke, the Werewolf, so she quickly dodged away.
Of course, there is another important reason. Although Melinda has not had much contact with Hawkeye Barton, she knows that Hawkeye Barton's arrows are not ordinary arrows, but products of high technology. Luke dodging the arrow's attack does not mean that he is truly safe and sound.
With a loud "bang!", just as Melinda had dodged, a terrifying explosion rang out, instantly engulfing Luke's figure. The billowing smoke and dust stunned Jocelyn, and even sent Melinda had already dodged, flying!
"You bastards! What have you all done?!" When she came to her senses, Jocelyn was instantly enraged. An invisible force surged from her body and slammed into Hawkeye Barton. Before Hawkeye Barton could even react, he was sent flying and crashed into the wall.
"Huff! Huff! Huff!" However, it was obvious that Jocelyn hadn't used his abilities in a long time, so he looked extremely tired.
Jocelyn abandoned her identity Shadow Hunter, but she didn't lose her abilities. However, due to prolonged disuse and physical degeneration, her combat capabilities are considerably weaker than before...
As Jocelyn caught her breath, she didn't even glance at Hawkeye Barton, who had been sent flying. Instead, she looked worriedly at Luke in the dust, completely unaware that Coulson, who had been standing beside her, had taken out a machine and pressed it onto her body.
"Zzzzz!" A force similar to an electric current acted on Jocelyn, causing Jocelyn to roll his eyes back and then collapse to the ground, his body convulsing.
"Why did you have to resort to violence? The chief already said to take him back..." Coulson said helplessly to Melinda after Jocelyn fell to the ground, picking Jocelyn up as he did so. "When you get back to the chief, you'll have to explain to him why this happened. I'm not taking your side!"
"Who told that guy to suddenly appear and act like he was going to attack us?" Melinda glanced at the dissipating dust and shook her head. "Go back and settle accounts with the Intelligence Division. We've been monitoring them for so many days, how come we didn't realize this guy was Werewolf? Hmm?! Be careful!"
As Melinda was speaking, her expression suddenly changed. She didn't have time to pick up the short stick that had been knocked away earlier. Melinda immediately pulled out her pistol and, regardless of whether she was on the street or not, aimed at the afterimage in the dust and fired several shots!
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
As the gunshots rang out, Luke's figure gradually became visible as he dodged and weaved. Finally, when the smoke and dust completely cleared, Luke turned around, gave Melinda and Coulson a cold look, and then fixed his gaze on Jocelyn before turning away in the opposite direction.
"Should we chase after them?" Melinda frowned when she saw Luke's gaze, staring at Luke's direction and the bloodstains on the ground before asking.
"Forget it, let him go. Let's not make things worse. We've already caused enough trouble. What we need is Jocelyn. Let's think about how to explain this to the chief. All the things the chief said to get closer to us before will probably have been for nothing..." Coulson hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. He glanced at Melinda and then looked at Hawkeye Barton, who was climbing out of the wall, and asked.
"How are you? Are you still holding on? Should we contact the Medical Department and send you there for a check-up?"
"She's fine, she'll hold on!" Hawkeye Barton shook his head, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, and looked at the unconscious Jocelyn, saying, "I didn't know she was this powerful. Although she seemed a bit rusty, a superhuman is a superhuman. She's much stronger than me, a nobody who only had the Super Soldier Serum..."
"In fact, if I hadn't successfully injected the Super Soldier Serum after the last incident, I'd probably be paralyzed by her attack, if not dead!"
"Times have changed. While we've seen many extraordinary items before, how could we have known there were so many extraordinary individuals in the world?" Coulson shook his head, carrying Jocelyn into the car. "However, her abilities are relatively limited. If you're prepared, dealing with her shouldn't be too difficult..."
"But her strength, in the supernatural world, is probably not that impressive!" As the vehicle started moving, Hawkeye Barton looked at the still unconscious Jocelyn and said, "Unprepared, we have a hard time dealing with supernatural beings of this level, let alone the more powerful Saiyan and Superman..."
"No wonder the director changed his mind, from being single-mindedly focused on forming the Avengers to now deciding to first assemble a group of effective combat forces."
"To avoid upsetting the director, let me remind you first: this group of extraordinary individuals isn't the Avengers!" Coulson said with a smile, looking at Hawkeye Barton. "Only when Iron Man, Superman, and Saiyan are all included can it be called the Avengers..."
"I really don't want to discourage the director's confidence, but I think he might be dreaming!" Hawkeye Barton shook his head and said bluntly.
"You always have to have dreams! What if they come true?" Coulson chuckled and shrugged, saying softly, "Like my dream is to find a beautiful place before I go bald and enjoy life to the fullest, and I'm working towards that..."
"So your hair is falling out even faster!" Melinda teased, glancing at Coulson's receding hairline.
The S.H.I.E.L.D.. vehicle moved quickly and steadily toward one of S.H.I.E.L.D..'s bases. Nick Fury, of course, had no intention of meeting his sister Jocelyn inside the S.H.I.E.L.D.. building.
Meanwhile, Luke was fleeing in a disheveled and staggering manner. He didn't know where he should run, but he knew that if he stayed where he was, he would surely be killed by Coulson and his men.
Even if Luke didn't know who Coulson and the others were, if he died there, no one would be able to pass on the message and save Jocelyn!
However, the more Luke fled, the weaker his breath became. He was first injured by Hawkeye Barton's terrifying technological arrows, and then shot by Melinda with a pistol. Even though Luke avoided vital organs, the regenerative abilities of his Werewolf lineage were extremely poor. If a human's physical attributes could reach the same level as Luke's, then his regenerative abilities would be similar to Luke's...
"Awooo!" Finally, realizing he couldn't hold on any longer, Luke let out a wolf howl and then passed out.
Before long, one Werewolf after another appeared in front of Luke. These Werewolf had a weaker aura than Luke, and it seemed that Luke was their leader.
"Luke! Luke!" The Werewolf cried out in panic when they found Luke unconscious, which briefly revived Luke.
"Go, go find Constantine..." The weakened Luke only managed to utter one sentence before fainting again.
Fortunately, Werewolf are quite fast and quick to gather information. After all, Constantine's Shadow Hunter are everywhere, so exchanging information is easy.
Therefore, with the appearance of a Portal, Luke, along with several Werewolf, entered Constantine's current Magic Base. The Shadow Hunter, including Clary, were naturally there. Clary, in particular, was shocked when she saw Luke in trouble, because Luke was living with her mother Jocelyn. If Luke was in trouble, it meant that Jocelyn might also be in trouble!
Although Clary's relationship with Jocelyn was slightly strained because of the Holy Grail incident, Clary still has deep feelings for Jocelyn. Otherwise, Clary wouldn't have recklessly entered the Extraordinary World after Jocelyn was captured.
At this moment, Clary even felt a little regretful. Although she had entered the transcendental world, the existence of the Portal meant there was no need to keep hiding from Jocelyn. She could go home to check on him from time to time, especially since Jocelyn would definitely be safe if she had been home today...
With a "whoosh!", under Clary's worried gaze, the Guardian was casting a spell to heal Luke. This scene seemed familiar. Previously, Luke had touched the Magic Academy's array and was seriously injured by electricity. It was the Guardian who healed Luke. Now, the Guardian was also somewhat dazed.
However, compared to the magical power of the array last time, this injury is actually lighter, and it is all external. The Guardian can recover more easily from such injuries. Although it cannot achieve the effect of Robet's Healing Spell, it can still allow Luke to gradually recover.
"Hmm~" Before long, Luke's injuries stabilized. He slowly opened his eyes, looking around at first with some confusion, and then his consciousness gradually returned.
"Luke! What happened? Where's Mom?" Clary asked anxiously after seeing Luke wake up.
"She was kidnapped. I went to buy groceries and was almost home when I saw Jocelyn being held hostage by three people. I rushed over. One of the women was quite skilled, but she was probably just an ordinary person..." Luke's eyes flickered slightly as he recounted the story in a low voice.
"But there was someone with a bow and arrow nearby. The arrows he shot seemed to have some kind of technological power, releasing terrifying explosions that injured me instantly. And just as I was struggling to get up, I was hit by a bullet..."
"I knew I couldn't save Jocelyn on my own, so I fled despite my severe injuries. Luckily, I managed to contact you..."
"Who is this person? Valentine is dead, the Holy Grail has been destroyed, and you don't have any ability to reveal yourselves. Why would someone target you?" Clary frowned, her eyes filled with confusion. She couldn't understand why, now that Valentine was dead and the Holy Grail was gone, someone would target Jocelyn and Luke, who were living ordinary lives. Even Angel shouldn't be targeting Jocelyn and Luke!
"I think they're only targeting Jocelyn, otherwise they wouldn't have been so ruthless towards me. But when they were dealing with Jocelyn, they just got close and took him hostage..." Luke hesitated for a moment, then said in a low voice.
"Clary, could you help me track Jocelyn's location?" Clary, puzzled, turned to Constantine and asked expectantly.
"Uh..." Constantine paused for a moment. To be honest, he didn't want to use Tracking Magic. He had finally managed to transfer the debt of Tracking Magic to Robet, and now that he was rid of that pile of debt, he felt much more relaxed.
However, the Shadow Hunter are currently working for Constantine, and it's impossible to expect them to work without feeding them.
Moreover, Jocelyn's strength wasn't particularly great, and Constantine felt he could withstand such a price.
"Alright!" Constantine finally nodded and, under Clary's grateful gaze, began to use Tracking Magic. Constantine had met Jocelyn before, so he was naturally able to track her down.
"Ring ring!" However, to Constantine's surprise, just as he had paid the price to find Jocelyn's location, Clary's phone rang, giving Constantine a vague sense of foreboding.
"Nick Fury?" Clary was taken aback when she saw the phone number, because she had no liking for the owner of the number.
When Jocelyn went missing, Clary called Nick Fury for help, but Nick Fury showed no interest in assisting. Now, however, Nick Fury is inexplicably contacting her...
"Hmm? Could it be?" A thought flashed through Clary's mind. Instead of answering the phone, she looked at Constantine and the Guardian, saying, "You two, use the Portal to check Jocelyn's location and see how she is..."
With a "whoosh," the Guardian and Constantine exchanged a glance. The Guardian's Portal was in the process of opening when suddenly a dark blue light severed the Portal's power, leaving the Guardian looking somewhat bewildered.
"This is troublesome. I'll contact Robet!" Constantine said, his expression slightly grim upon seeing this.
