Annihilation and Investigation
Mephisto was terrified as his body was smashed to pieces. He hadn't even seen who had attacked him, but Mephisto was certain that it was the same guy who had seen him earlier.
Mephisto was even beginning to suspect the relationship between the person who made the move and Robet. After all, Robet had just lured him with an array, and Clark had found him directly and shattered him on the spot with a single punch. There must be some connection between them that Mephisto was unaware of!
However, Mephisto knew that now was not the time to think about these issues. In this critical moment, Mephisto quickly took control of his shattered body, even abandoning some parts of it, choosing to let the important components of his body escape.
With a whoosh, a cold wind blew by, and Mephisto felt as if his consciousness had been frozen. His reactions were many times slower than before, and in this slowed perception, Mephisto found that every part of his body had become extremely cold, and he even quickly lost control of his body!
"Now that I've discovered you, you still want to escape? It's not that easy." Clark knew how difficult Mephisto was to deal with from Robet, so when facing Mephisto, Clark showed no mercy. He first smashed Mephisto's body to pieces with a punch, and then used Freeze Breath to freeze Mephisto's shattered body, completely rendering Mephisto unable to fight back.
Theoretically, Mephisto's possession of the Joker's body after becoming Ghost Rider makes him immortal. However, immortality is only relative. Clark's current strength far surpasses that of Ghost Rider. Even with Mephisto's consciousness in the Joker's body, he cannot contend with Clark at this moment. Perhaps only if Mephisto's true form appears on Earth can he fight Clark.
"Resolved?" However, as Clark looked at the pieces of flesh frozen together in front of him, a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes. He hadn't noticed anything unusual in the frozen flesh, but Clark knew from Robet's side that Mephisto was a tough guy to deal with, so he was being unusually cautious.
It is precisely because of this caution that Mephisto has not yet found an opportunity to leave the ice. In fact, as the ice freezes for longer and longer, the Joker's body is becoming weaker and weaker. If this continues, the Joker's body will be completely destroyed!
"What to do? Damn it, when did Earth become so dangerous?" Mephisto's mind raced with thoughts. Under his control, the Hell Fighter parked in the distance flew over. This was one of the few ways Mephisto could try to break the deadlock.
"Hmm?" Clark keenly sensed the movement of the Hell Fighter. He didn't even give the Hell Fighter a chance to get close. Clark's figure disappeared from the spot in an instant, and when he reappeared, he was already next to the Hell Fighter.
"Boom!" With Clark's punch, the Hell Fighter was instantly destroyed. The surging Hellfire struggled to revive the Hell Fighter, but soon, a cold wind blew by, and the Hellfire on the Hell Fighter was instantly Oblivion. Then Clark punched again, and the Hell Fighter turned into dust and drifted away with the wind, disappearing completely.
With a "whoosh!", Clark was back beside Mephisto in the next moment. Only a few seconds had passed since Clark left. While Mephisto was still trying to escape from the ice, Clark had already solved the problem with the Hell Fighter.
"Damn it! Who is this guy? He has such power, huh? Kryptonian life force? This guy is Kryptonian? Can Kryptonian be this powerful?" Mephisto sensed Clark's return and his destruction of his frozen body, and he hurriedly contacted his true self in the Hell Dimension.
Unfortunately, before Mephisto's true form in the Hell Dimension could make any effective response and transmit even more powerful energy, Clark blasted Mephisto's frozen body to pieces.
Of course, to be precise, the Joker's body was completely shattered. As the Joker's body was destroyed, Mephisto's consciousness also disappeared, without even a chance to utter any threats.
And so the infamous Joker seems to have died, though Joker consciousness had long been suppressed and put into a deep sleep by Mephisto. Perhaps, for this Joker, his life had already ended long ago...
"Is it resolved?" Clark's eyes gleamed as he carefully sensed his surroundings, muttering to himself. Given Mephisto's previous outstanding performance, Clark remained vigilant.
With a "whoosh!" sound, Robet appeared beside Clark, his eyes shining brightly as he observed the surroundings. Robet and Clark's Telepathic Communication hadn't stopped, so Robet knew about Clark's experience.
"Really dead? That's impressive!" After a long while, Robet, having confirmed that there was no remaining Mephisto power around, looked at Clark with some emotion and said, "It seems that once power reaches a certain level, it really can ignore many mystical abilities!"
"It's not that easy. If it were that simple, I would have been able to find him when he disappeared, instead of needing your help to force him out of his way..." Clark slowly shook his head and said softly, "So, this matter of the Hell Lord is over? And Pruke has been dealt with. There won't be any more sacrifices, right?"
"That's a difficult question to answer. This isn't Mephisto's first time on Earth. He came before, but I sent him back. He also took the person you killed and possessed his body..." Robet's expression gradually turned serious upon hearing Clark's question.
"Mephisto could have come directly to Earth, but now he's possessing someone else's body and acting on it. And according to the intelligence we have, he seems to be searching for something. Even if you destroy the body he's possessing this time, it will probably be difficult to completely thwart his plan, because we simply don't know what his purpose is!"
"Isn't sacrifice his ultimate goal?" Clark frowned, looking at Robet with some confusion.
"I'm afraid not. The sacrifice was more like Mephisto's whim. Even Pruke becoming Demon seemed like a game for Mephisto. He must have a more important purpose!" Robet shook his head with a serious expression and said earnestly.
"Then what do we do? Continue to wait for Mephisto to make his next move?" Clark's expression also turned serious. The ease he felt when he killed Mephisto's host had vanished. He said in a low voice.
"This guy really wants to hide. It won't be easy for either of us to find him. If he changes hosts or continues to come back in the avatar form you mentioned, it will definitely be a problem for us!"
"I'll go ask Constantine and the others to see if they know anything more about Mephisto. As for the rest, we can only wait and see!" Robet thought for a moment, but found that there was really no good solution.
The Hell Dimension was far too unfamiliar and unknown to Robet and Clark, and even if Clark and Robet did go to the Hell Dimension, they might not be able to find Mephisto's whereabouts in the vast Hell Dimension.
After all, based on the information currently available, the Hell Dimension likely corresponds to all Tamagami in the entire universe, or even larger pantheons. The size of the Hell Dimension is at least equal to that of the current universe...
Finding a person in the vast universe is no easy task, and similarly, finding Mephisto in the completely unfamiliar Hell Dimension would be extremely difficult. If Clark and Robet were to blindly venture into the Hell Dimension, they would likely end up like headless flies.
"Alright, I'll keep an eye on the news from the Demon!" Clark paused for a moment, then nodded and vanished in a flash.
The Demon crisis on Earth is not over, it's just not as severe as it was at the beginning.
On the one hand, ordinary Demon are not that difficult to deal with; many human forces and powerful individuals are already capable of dealing with Demon, and even capturing and studying Demon.
On the other hand, it's also because many dimensions haven't gained anything after sending out a large number of Demon. Even though ordinary Demon aren't worth much, this kind of consumption isn't sustainable. So, many dimensions have slowed down their pace of sending Demon to attack Earth, waiting for the dimensional gap on Earth to cause problems again. As for patience, those dimensions that have been keeping an eye on Earth have no shortage of it!
After Clark left, Robet also left, and Morbius returned to Tony Stark's house. Tony Stark and Steve were dealing with the aftermath of the Pruke incident.
Robet dealt with Pruke quickly, but the impact of this event was still significant. Even though many people knew that Pruke had proactively dispatched fighter jets to deal with Robet, the Avengers still faced many troubles after attacking the military base.
However, such troubles are something the Avengers must go through. Even if they don't deal with it this time, they will have to deal with it later. Only after truly experiencing these things can the Avengers officially stand on their own feet in the face of official forces.
"Constantine, it's been a long time, and so has Clary ..." Robet arrived at Constantine's Magic Base through Portal, smiling as he spoke to Constantine and Clary.
Robet had used the Portal before, but Robet hadn't stayed in the Magic Base for a while. If he hadn't come to Constantine to ask for information, Robet wouldn't have stayed long this time.
"It has indeed been a long time. Since I stopped contacting you, the danger level of the supernatural events I've encountered has decreased considerably, and my gains have been minimal..." Constantine said to Robet with some emotion, his voice carrying a mixture of longing and apprehension.
The reason for the longing is that following Robet always leads to dangerous supernatural events. Although Constantine's gains were not significant before, he still learned a lot.
The reason for Robet's apprehension is that the opponents he encounters are becoming increasingly powerful, requiring Constantine to use his trump cards each time, and sometimes even then, he can only barely survive. This contradicts Constantine's initial purpose in befriending Robet...
Constantine initially befriended Robet, hoping Robet would help him resolve his various debts. However, so far, Constantine has only settled one debt related to Tracking Magic, which is quite different from his initial expectations.
"Isn't it because you haven't contacted me? Didn't you say that if you were willing, you could walk on the edge of a knife and help me lure some powerful figures from hell here? How come you haven't managed to lure even one powerful figure from hell yet?" Robet looked at Constantine, shook his head with a smile, and asked sarcastically.
"Don't even mention it. I don't know what's been going on in the Hell Dimension lately, but Demon King with any reputation have started to keep a low profile and have no intention of coming to Earth. It's not that I haven't tried to seduce some Demon King, but I've found that I'm not as popular as before..." Constantine looked at Robet with a helpless expression, shrugged, and explained softly.
"Hmm?" Robet raised an eyebrow upon hearing this and quickly asked, "So, have you figured out the reason? There must be a reason why those Hell Demon King have undergone such a transformation, right?"
"I'm just dancing on the edge of a knife; I can't just jump off the mountain of knives!" Constantine's lips twitched slightly. "Luring those Demon King isn't too dangerous, but if I actually went to investigate those matters, even if I'm not as popular now, I'd still be completely devoured!"
"I suspect these things might be related to Mephisto, and I need you to investigate!" Upon hearing this, Robet slowly shook his head and looked at Constantine as he earnestly recounted what Mephisto had done.
"WTF?! Ghost Rider was controlled by Mephisto? And he was killed by Superman? Is Superman really that ruthless? Ten thousand lives, such a sacrifice isn't actually that delicious food for Hell Lord like Mephisto. Mephisto even wants to control Ghost Rider, what is he trying to do? I'll check the books..." Constantine was initially surprised and uncertain upon hearing this, then began to ponder.
